outside of the value being too high, jackets just extended peeke, are the last team that needs a winger and one of the last teams to trade D help

created cap space for next year to sign a d, got picks, got rid of myers
doesn't necessarily make the defense better right now, but with peeke rathbone will hopefully make the full time transition to the nhl and peeke could pair with hughes if the experiment doesn't work out

helps rathbone become a top 4 defenseman, peeke would be put on the first pair with hughes if the right side doesn't work out

Problem is, not giving up that much for a rental, nor do I want to deal with whatever Horvat's next contract is going to be.

Plus, isn't 1C a little rich for him? I mean, yeah, he can technically play there, but I wouldn't really say he is the model of a 1C that you typically give up assets for.

You can say whatever you want but they wouldn't give this up for a guy that doesn't take them over the top in any type of way. Hes a good player, one that makes them better, but not one that the organization would give up this much for given where they are at right now. Again, you can quote this with "no. trade good" but it doesn't change the fact that the jackets wouldn't do that

I probably know the Jackets organization far more than you do. Its the nature of being a huge fan of a specific team. I was just giving feedback on a trade you posted... why are you so passionate about shooting it down? The Jackets' true window probably starts 2 years from now. Why would they trade for an UFA who they can't afford to sign back due to the money needing to go towards sillinger/johnson/marchenko/gavrikov/chinakhov etc.
