How does an utterly useless player instead of a useful one help the leafs?

Engvall not useles... He was super good last year. It is clearly shedding cap for the Leafs and thus helping them.

As a Leafs fan I don't love it. But time will tell what happens. I assume something will need to be done, unless we rock a 20 man roster, which is possible.

I would be interested in a Kerfoot for Mayfield swap though. Not a huge fan of losing Kerfoot since he is so versatile but getting Mayfield would be a nice addition to our blueline and the cap gets solved as well.

yeah, i dont know how that sentence came out the way it did. it SHOULD have said "how does an utterly useless player coming in and a useful one going out help the leafs?"

It really doesn't help the Leafs cap problem.

So the leafs trade a good bottom sixer on a fair contract for nothing and that helps them?

Maybe the leafs should help the Isles out by trading Kyle Clifford for Barzal
