I don't think Hakanpaa is going to be the odd man out of defense. Unfortunately it is looking like Harley will be sent down and Miller will be the 6th defenseman

Agreed... why trade arguably our 2nd best RHD when we're already very thin there?

I’ve seen the word ‘masterclass’ thrown around a lot after the Robo signing. I understand the contracts for Ott and Robo are team friendly deals…but what about the other contracts he’s signed like Suter Dobie and Hakanpaa - and also the fact that Robo has missed all training camp?

Hakkanpa isn’t a bad contract. Far from it

Team friendly isn’t even the proper term. It’s a bridge deal. If this was a 6-8 year deal that would be master class. In 4 years he will be paid 10-12m if he is still performing. It’s not far off the 11x5 AM34 deal that Dubas did, not master class.

Suter is the only guy on that list I have a major issue with. I get why they paid to keep a goalie who made it to the finals.

That being said Dallas has a bad habit of signing veterans to block young talent from moving up the depth chart.
