Besides the obvious issues in the trade proposal (recognizing this is for jokes), the last thing any team should do is switch Kane from the RW position to play the left side. If anything, you switch Marner not Kane.

I think the issue is mainly Kane and Marner on the same line together while they serve the same function. Neither of them have a particularly strong shot, the line is basically going to be finding the best way to get Matthews the puck which is rather easy to defend. I think I'd swap Nylander to the top line on the left side to give the passer more to work with while having Marner or Kane carry the 2nd.

Thinking about it more, Nylander and Matthews function in very different ways too and they don't make up a very good pair. Nylander generates the abundance of his chances off the rush while Matthews does it cycling the zone. I might leave Bunting on the top line and the format the line follows largely the same.

Kane with Matthews would make Matthews the best player in the world IMO as far as a goal scorer. You have the most elite setup man in the league playing with a top 3 goal scorer in the game, those two would further inflate their stats beyond their elite status they already are tagged with. Kane is a game changer, and Matthews is a game changer....you could put Mickey Mouse on a line with them and they'd still light it up. Marner is no doubt a strong point producer, more responsible in his two way game then Kane, but he's just not figured out how to to truly be that game changer yet. Matthews and Kane are both that, and together would be something amazing to see.

That all said, it's pie in the sky stuff to think reality is Kane ends up in Blue & White. Just too many hurdles to overcome, mainly cap wise and Kane's willingness to play in Canada, for Kane to land in Toronto, but if it happened....Matthews and Kane could be one of the best duos the NHL has ever seen.
