I think its fair to say at this point that the teams have shown us they don't consider Chychrun to have this kind of value. He had 1 season where he and his linemates went on a shooting % bender then fell back down to earth last year.

This is looking more and more like Sakic waiting on the right Duchene deal.....

Edmonton isn't giving up the equivalent of FOUR 1st round picks for an injury-prone offensive defenseman when they already have piles of LHD.

Yeah, no one here is paying that, especially the leafs, they dont even have a salary dump in there and they're giving up as much as anyone

We actually agree on something!🤣🤣🤣

Here is the thing......

IF Chychrun was all that and a slice of cheese, he would have been dealt by now. He is a good defenseman with a decent contract whose tires have been pumped.

I do not see him as a franchise defenseman (and the prices suggest he is). He is a solid top pairing D on a lot of teams, top 4 on some.

He is not Hughes, nor Fox, nor Heiskanen, nor Andersson (to name a few).

He is good. But not move the future of my franchise good.

The Blues are not chasing him. And they're not doing that.

I wouldn't. We simply don't need a Chych type Dman. We can get a far more suitable player for much cheaper.

Much more interested in Travis Sanheim if he ever becomes available. Neighbours is off the table considering he’s gonna be impactful this year

I would not be opposed to Sanheim because I actually think he'd mesh well with Colt - a bit in the way Leddy does but better. Still, unless Fletcher has one of his brain farts, I'd likely wince at the ask. I'm still of the mind that the best possible partner for Parayko is a more steady defensive guy who'll clear the slot but can still skate - Gavrikov, Soucy, etc. Parayko shouldn't be the one sitting back, he can change the game moving the puck into the O-zone and I think he's more engaged everywhere when he has some freedom to skate the puck up ice when he feels like it. And he hustles back quicker than most, to boot.

Tbh Chychrun is kinda that guy. He’s a pretty effective at using his body in battles and in front of the net. Chychrun’s offense is ultra overrated imo. Far too many point shots and a lack of creativity. Also I think Colt is gonna have a big year for the first time since 2020

Yeah, if Colt picks up where he left off the last half of last season, a lot of people will be eating a lot of crow.

I mute everyone on Twitter who has a “Parayko needs to hit and be tough like pronger” take. Brain worms

Parayko tries to control where they can go more than blasting people. It's not like he plays small. People are just... people.

The people who always claim he needs to shoot more too… no We absolutely do not need more wildly inaccurate point shots
