Can anyone envision the possibility of Muzzin coming down with a mysterious "injury" when Liljegren returns? Muzzin is placed on LTIR. This would achieve 3 things. Sandin gets a top 4 LD spot. Kerfoot and Holl don't need to be traded. Leafs get cap compliant. Muzzin pulls a "Kucherov" and returns for the playoffs.

Hey Tampa did it. Why can't the Leafs?

Will love to see Muzzin pull of Kucherov but this wont happen. It didn't happen last year either. So I will be surprise if that happens.

It's interesting how half the Leafs fanbase loves Holl while the other half hates him.

The fact of the matter is just he isn't good enough but he can perform capably in a role (2RD minute muncher/PK1) with a strong partner in a way the other options (Sandin/Lily) haven't proven yet. Because of his role and size (6'4, led the D in hits - though that was more of a function of health), meat and potatoes people will like him. The issue is, given their point in the contending cycle and cap structure, the Leafs are unlikely to find someone who can perform in his role at a similar or lesser cost, unless the internal options step up, making him valuable to the Leafs from a cap perspective, but also one of the options they may have to move out because of the cap issues they have (although I personally think Engvall is the sneaky candidate to be moved out of the more obvious trade options - they value Kerfoot's versatility way too much to move him and Holl at this point is sadly too valuable to their D corps versus what they'd likely get in a trade)

The Wild have 7 healthy defensemen expected to make the opening night lineup. Merrill is expected to be healthy after about 5-10 games. Why would we add a $2 million cap hit for a position where we already have an abundance of bodies. It really makes no sense.
