If Larkin is available for some reason

Created by: AM19
Team: 2022-23 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 7, 2022
Published: Oct. 7, 2022

Description
Seravalli predicts he'll be traded in his bold predictions article. I honestly highly doubt it, but if he's available we should be all over it. I think playing between Guadreau and Laine and reuniting with his buddy Werenski would convince him to sign long-term.

That top line and top powerplay would be deadly.

I would never trade Kent Johnson, I consider him an untouchable as his ceiling is very high and can be a bad trade if he turns out a stud

Dang that top line would be ELite. I am curious to see how it plays out thou with Jonny G and Laine on the same line they both stats wise normally are the trigger man on there line taking more shots then their line mates.

Well I'd hate if they traded him but if he had to go I'd take that deal . The problem is if he'd sign 8x8.5 I think he'd already be signed.

Why is there trade buzz with him? I thought he was the hometown kid who wanted to stay? Plus, DET will have the cap…

DET just worried he going to price himself out?

No it’s just the bold prediction article. Both Larkin and SY want to get a deal worked out. With other guys signing long term, the AAV is being discussed. Barzal increased the price even if slightly.

Larkin wants at least 8 x 9.0M to 8 x 9.5M to remain in Detroit, No way he's taking less in Columbus.

Sign and trades are basically roster/prospect 2 1st and 2nd round pick, But that's still a really good offer we couldn't refuse.

Seravalli has no credible sources when it comes to Detroit.

Larkin has already basically said that talks are going well. And a deal will get done before he becomes a UFA.

I'd be happy, Remove Kent Johnson and add Cole Sillinger.

Larkin and Barzal share the same agent, There's no way they can justify asking for more for Larkin than what Barzal received. Barzal is by far the better overall player.

Seravalli had to write something edgy to get people to read his pointless article and has nothing credible to back this rumor up. It's a joke.

Larkin will be re-signed.

If by chance Larkin doesn't want to sign with Wings, it's obvious he is going the UFA route. Don't trade for him, and just sign him as UFA. Even if CBJ couldn't hold out Johnson, the pick and the cap for someone else.

Gaudreau is primarily an elite playmaker. Laine will be the primary shooting threat

But he does want to re-sign so that route won’t work.

Larkin would pretty much be the ideal center for Gaudreau and Laine. Insanely fast, good a faceoffs, dependable in board battles. But man, that price. KJ would be an absolute no-go for me. I'd do the deal with Sillinger, though. Larkin is what you hope Sillinger becomes in a few years; KJ's potential is another level past that. And if KJ turns out and Larkin ends up your 2C, then that is some spine right there. It's too bad the Jackets don't have a Ceulemans-caliber forward prospect, since the Wings don't really need a defenseman.

Also this is all moot because Larkin isn't going anywhere.

Neither of those guys are options. Larkin would have to be a considerably better player than he is now for that to be worthwhile for the Jackets. Mostly due to cap timing considerations - we'd have to sacrifice too much.

...yeah, generally when we suggest that we're being sarcastic and ragging on Wings fans in pseudo-retaliation for all the "no chance Werenski extends, he's coming home to play with Larkin" perpetual nonsense from not too long ago. I don't know of any Jackets fan off the top of my head who considers that a realistic option. (I'm sure they're out there - every fanbase has its crazy dreamers - but I've not met 'em.)
