why is Minnesota paying you for the privilege of helping you be cap compliant. Kerfoot's a fine player, sure, but with 53 hours (as i'm typing) left before Toronto needs to shed about $2.9M to get under the cap, why would the Wild use the majority of the $3.7M they have in cap space to add another middle-6 guy that doesn't really fit in their lineup to begin with.

i'm gonna defer to Wild fans if they wanna correct me but I assume their top 9 is gonna be something like:
Kaprizov-Hartman-Zuccarello
Boldy-Gaudreau-Jost
Foligno-JEE-Greenway

The only spot there I can see Kerfoot upgrading enough to make a deal is the Jost spot at RW2, but I also can see why a team would want to run with a 24 year old RFA making $2M over a 28 year old pending UFA making $3.5M - at least to start the season, I'd rather go with the guy who has a better shot of being here next year to see what he's got.

might as well say the leafs need a unicorn and a mermaid because toughness doesnt protect stars.

not that minnisota would do it, but if the leafs were so terribly worried about being cap compliant they'd have shipped Kerfoot or Holl for a late pick weeks ago. They'll be under the cap and either use LTIR or run a bit short until they can figure it out. They arnt in a rush so if someone wants a pretty useful player who makes under 800k in actual cash then they'll have to give up something to get him

Jost will be benched when greenway comes back. Jost might even be put on waivers

What happened to Milano? Was his play terrible, did he have an attitude issue or was it a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B?

I'm sure they just run the 20 man roster for a time to stay compliant and then figure it out as the year goes one, but I do think that the value of Kerfoot's salary vs. cap hit is kind of blunted at this point in the season - every team is above the floor, so no one is looking for a big cheap cap hit, and Kerfoot also had a 10-team NTC kick in this summer - and you -know- the floor teams like Arizona are almost definitely on it.

I still think another shoe needs to drop with Toronto and the cap, but you're right - they can make it work for now so there's no sense making a panic trade like the Jackets did with Bjorkstrand.

Why would anyone be paying MIlano 2 mil aav? He just got dropped from his PTO and has no real bargaining power left.

Concussions was why nobody wanted to commit to him. Did not impress in his PTO either.
