Hawks pass, Not enough for a future hall of famer in Patrick Kane.

And even with the double retention your'e still over the cap by $800,000 so it's not going to work.

I don’t see this being the deal. I’ve seen a comment from what I think was an insider but can’t remember 100% who it was that he wants a long term extension with the move. So likely we need to move out some salary like Kakko. I see it looking more like Kakko and Dal 1st for Kane. Then Kane signs an 7-8 year deal front loaded and low cap hit with bonuses so that in 4-5 seasons he can be bought out for minimal penalties. By low cap hit in talking 3-4M.

eh. I think if anyone offers 2 first round picks and a prospect Davidson probably accepts, especially if NYR is Kane's first choice. They're really invested in doing right by Kane and not just holding a bidding war

Arizona is not taking a 2.65 million dollar hit for a 3rd. My god why would they? Try more like a 2nd. This is real dollars and it is a whole season so it is even not prorated like the deadline.

His signing bonus was 4M paid, 2.9M of salary left to be paid. Taking 1/2 that for a 3rd isn’t crazy.. sorry, taking on 1/4 of the 2.9 is worth less than a 3rd..

Rangers are projected to have over $4M in deadline cap space, this will work as long as they don't get screwed with injuries and using LTIR.

Agreed. For a rental, even Kane, I’m expecting a first (which will be a late first) and a prospect. Anything more than that is gravy.

That entire move would be a mistake. Hypothetically, Kakko breaks out this year, are we gonna move a youthful kakko for kane who will be on the decline? Or do we save our money and extend our current youth.

Kakko at his best won’t be as skilled as Kane tomorrow but I get it. I’m not saying it should be done. But I do see the value and season I’ve the next 3-4 seasons to do it. If Kakko takes a big jump this season and is a legit 30+ goal guy then it doesn’t make sense. The issue is bread, Kreider, Zib are only aging and soon will see some decline. Shesty might not be here in 3 years. There are some reasons to make the immediate upgrade if it is one for the next 3 years. Kane isn’t falling off in terms of ability.

Actually, the "real dollar" salary amount would only be $750k. So, no, retaining that much as a 3rd party does not cost a 2nd round pick.

That was all debunked. There is no "insider info" on Kane wanting term. I doubt he will stipulate anything like that. He will probably want to take a good chunk of next summer to figure out what teams are interested and where he wants to be. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up back in CHI. He still has a lot of franchise records he wants to beat, and he will most likely still be playing very good hockey when CHI is getting good again. Which, could be as soon as the 23-24 season, although it is more likely that 24-25 is when they start trending upward.

Davidson absolutely accepts that offer. I think, NYR could offer a 1 to 3 year cap dump (if they have one) and the two 2023 1st round picks without even adding Kravtsov and CHI would probably accept. Cap means nothing to them. In fact they will probably be looking to add any cap hits they can since they have next to nothing on the books after the 23-24 season. They only have $17.9M on the books for the 24-25 season.
