2023 Absolute Ideal Opening Night Roster with Bedard Pastrnak Meier Severson

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 10, 2022
Published: Oct. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Absolute ideal scenario:

- SJ stink up the 2022-23 season so badly that they win the lottery for 1st overall pick and land Bedard
- The Cuda absolutely dominate and Merkley+Hatakka and Eklund Bordeleau Gushchin Robins Coe are NHL-ready for the 2023-24 season; 4 of these latter 5 crack the roster.
- Sharks sign Pastnak with this momentum (to play with fellow Czech and friend Hertl)
- Sharks ship out Vlasic, who waives for MTL (hometown), for a 1st round pick and Price's dead cap hit
- Sharks resign Meier with this 7mil cap space created
- Sharks ship out two depth players in Kunin and Lindblom who aren't negative value assets to create roster spots and cap space.
- Sharks ship out Labanc too hopefully if he has a bounceback season alongside Couture
- Sharks pay to ship out Simek's final year

MTL ask for your 2023 1st or you can forget Vlasic to MTL

At least. I'd be asking for more than 1 1st. Monahan cost a first for 1 yr at 6+, Vlasic at multiple years & 7 mil is gonna be costly to move.

I don't see why Pastrnak would want to go to San Jose...

Sorry the Vlasic trade makes no sense. If Price stays on life long LTIR he doesn't help/hurt the Habs cap. But Vlasic at 7m for years certainly does. Even Lebanc seems like a cap dump.

Living in California, SJ will be on the upswing soon, if they somehow got bedard even better. No idea what taxes are but that’s always got a bit of influence. I mean, this isn’t ARZ we are talking about.

You won't convince Pasta to sign with you if you placed low enough to get Bedard, if he leaves Boston, it's to go cup hunting.

Pickles has a 3 team trade list until the end of his contract, and I seriously doubt Montreal, or anyone who has the space available, is on the short list, and why would he waive to go be an anchor on a rebuilding team?

It would be 3 1st one for each remaining year that is the established price for taing on that bad off a annual cap hit per year.

Because the AHL team had a good year. It says in the intro.

MTL pays a 1st to give San Jose $7 million “new cap space”. Pastrnak signs based on success of AHL team. And two of the biggest UFAs sign with a team that just won lottery.

I would imagine he would want to go to a team that is currently contending.

That’s our usual narrative but Johnny hockey and others sign in places that are just about to start competing.
