Better put something of value for Larkin.

Players of interest to Detroit would be Boldy, Rossi, Faber, Addison maybe, khustnudinov.

Those pieces from Minny don't interest Detroit.

If Larkin is the ask...the conversation includes Matt Boldy.

Doesn't matter what the value is for Larkin, You're not even close. At least start with Boldy not a 3C in Jost and a bunch of meaningless pieces.

If you couldn't afford Kevin Fiala, You sure as hell can't afford Larkin who will come in around either 7 x $10,000,000 or 8 x $10,000,000 per season.

FYI Larkin controls where he goes, Zero chance of him waiving for Minnesota. Much better contenders out there than the Wild.

We arent looking for just draft capital, we need some young guys coming through the system, Aside from addison and Faber there is really nothing of interest to the canucks in the system, your best bet would be stacking firsts but I still dont think we would take that.

Yes it is a lot and the price is somewhere around a 1st, prospect and roster player (C & RD)

Comparing the trades to O'Reilly ain't practical. When ROR was traded he had 5 years left on his (current) contract.
Larkin is a rental...who I doubt Minni can afford in 23/24. Horvat has this season and then next season as RFA. Could Minni afford to sign these players even if they wanted to sign?

You’re the stats guy so maybe you know something that I don’t, however their point production has been eerily similar their whole career

I didnt even really look into their advanced stats, I just think Larkin has another gear that Horvat doesnt. Larkin has had 2 years now where hes hovering right around 1P/GP (including last season), while Horvat is peaking around a point in 3 of every 4 games. Larkin doesnt have the consistency yet but I think when hes on hes just in a different tier, hes a lower end 1C and Horvat is a 2C imo

Neither of those deals are close. I'd expect to pay a lot for a player you are going to use as your #1C. It will probably take a piece or 2 you don't want to lose. That applies to anyone good enough to play as a #1C not just Larkin or Horvat.

Last 3 season:

Horvat - 0.74 PPG

Larkin - 0.78 PPG

Career wise:

Horvat - 0.64 PPG

Larkin - 0.71 PPG

I would say Larkin is better than Horvat, however I don't see how he would be an entire TIER above Horvat. Both are fantastic 2C, and could play 1C. Horvat also showed to have another gear in the playoffs, however neither Larkin nor Horvat have really seen much playoff time anyway. At the end of the day, their basic stats show them to be quite comparable players.

Larkin has the highs and lows that average out to be just above Horvat's production average, but that down year in 20-21 really brings down the average. I would put more value into his most recent season (0.97P/GP) especially since theres such a big difference in the talent of his team last year and in previous seasons. Horvat seems to be relatively consistent with 0.74, 0.70, and 0.77P/GP, but has no real high production seasons like Larkin has. He just doesnt have the point per game upside

Probably about right for Horvat. Little light on Larkin.

Detroit is not trading Larkin. It's a non-conversation. Value is irrelevant unless Holland completely loses his mind and offers McDavid 1 for 1 (full disclosure, Larkin isn't even in the same hemisphere as McDavid, just using hyperbole to make a point)

Don't see why Vancouver would accept but Detroit doesn't. Very comparable players. Nearly identical production over the past 3 years, very similar production over their entire career. Both are captains of their respected teams.

VAN have Pettersson, Miller.
DET only has Copp, Suter

Horvat grew up in Ontario
Larkin grew up in Michigan

VAN cap situation may be tight to extend Horvat
DET has kept cap low so they could extend Larkin
