Initial Creation Date: Oct. 11, 2022
Published: Oct. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just having some fun. I can definitely see Horvat to Colorado happening if they have not signed him. They can't let him walk for nothing. Colorado would be a perfect spot for him if not.

Horvat extends 8 years x 7m a year.

Send one guy down or one guy on LTIR and the cap works.

Schenn for Depth.

Van get a lot of nice, young pieces but not Right D. They can use the assets to acquire a Right D around the deadline or in free agency.

Thoughts?

If they are not extended by trade deadline. They should 100% trade both. They can't risk losing Horvat for nothing at years end. They aren't in a position to do that.

If Van is out of the playoff picture and are sellers (potential situation) - Schenn would be traded for assets. They could always resign him after if both he and the player liked the fit. He is a replaceable player.

This AGM was playing around this scenario.

Avs are giving up a lot of assets here for two pending UFAs, both that they’re very unlikely to be able to fit within their current cap and future structure.

This proposal pretty much assumes VAN is out of playoff contention and is officially starting their rebuild then, yes!?

Out of playoff contention yes. But they would still be in an okay place moving forward. So not a rebuild. Just a deadline sell off. Gather a few more young assets and go again next year with 1 more year of experience for their young guys.

How would this be any different than the JTM trades? yes he is the captain but if we can get this for him I will take it.

It has been done before where a guy gets traded and then goes right back to his team (Perron post expansion and what Manson was Rumoured to do) and if he is the captain I could see him helping his team via trade then coming back

Was this for me!?

I was just confirming VAN would likely be out of the playoff picture if they were considering trading Horvat, otherwise why would they do that!? I guess it doesn’t necessarily signal rebuild

VAN could certainly re-sign him in the off-season again.

Happy!? 😃

No, trading Horvat does not signify a rebuild. It simply means we are moving on from him. A mini re-tool.

That's a big price to pay for a rental. Also Meyers just chose to sign in Colorado as a college free agent it would be a terrible look to trade him so soon.
