I think you mixed up the pics there. Why are the Habs retaining on Drouin, taking on Zucker and giving up a 2nd just to get POJ and a 4th?

Because 1 Drouin is a healthy scratch and 2 Zucker has looked very good in preseason. Pens decline this

Zucker > Drouin, but MTL shouldn't be adding more value to cover the gap since they are rebuilding and both are rentals. Let's say they're equal since in this scenario from MTL POV, it leaves a late 2nd for Joseph and 4th. I guess it depends on how they value Joseph, but I personally wouldn't do it.

If PIT wants to gamble on Drouin and give POJ to MTL (since they'd have first dibs to claim him off waivers) in exchange for Zucker, sure, but I don't see MTL retaining that little or giving up one of their picks.

If MTL retains, they might as well make it worth their while for using up 1/3 of the retention slots allowed and will demand a Good Pick/Prospect to do so, so it might as well be for more $$$, which is more of a Trade Deadline Transaction

Going to have to add a lot more sweeteners to force Montreal to take pos POJ off your hands
