Larkin

Created by: Civil_Eng_PE
Team: 2023-24 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 12, 2022
Published: Oct. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Larkin signs for the same amount as his buddy Zach.

To make this work:

-Gavi gets shipped out at the 2023 TDL for picks or a good prospect on their ELC.

-Gus does not get resigned

-Gudbranson gets bought out

-Chinny extension is high due to him having a break out 2022-2023 season

Defense is still super weak unless the young prospects step up a ton...

Probs not an ideal solution but this is the cheapest way (not giving up assets to shed cap space) that I could come up with.

Don't think this team contends for the cup as is.

I'm completely shocked Gudbrandon's buyout price is... reasonable? How does that even happen. I mean nothing on this armchair GM will happen in real life, but I thought his buyout price was really interesting. Less than half his AAV the entire way

The contract they gave him was ungodly over priced but I take solace in the fact that its not a horrible buyout if it comes to that.

It is a nice way to get ufas to come to Columbus. Buy them out after their 1st season.

Helps them not have to put in a trade request which usually tends to happen after living in Ohio for a year

Larkin won't make it to free agency, And no way he signs for $9,500,000 in Columbus when he's looking at between $10,000,000 to $10,250,000 per long term on the open market.

I don't see a world where he gets more than what Johnny got this off season... but maybe!

He's looking at between Barzal money and $9,500,000 to stay in Detroit, On the open market it will be far more.

No reason to keep Roslovic instead of Gavrikov in this scenario. Larkin 1c, Johnson 2c, Sillinger 3c with Boone moved to the wing. Easy.

In what world does Larkin leave the hometown team he grew up idolizing, and being the captain of the Red Wings for the joke of a franchise Columbus which has had 1 legitimate playoff series win in 22 years, so much history there, when Detroit can easily pay him that amount per season not to mention Detroit can add the 8th year.

Just because of Werenski? Laughable.. Larkin basically called Andrew Copp and helped convince his buddy to come to Detroit. Larkin has a Winged Wheel tattooed on his chest and wants to win there.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh, no need to attack here lol, was just seeing how the team looked and what would need to happen on CBJs end. I know its not gonna happen.

You’ve learned your lesson😂. Unless you massively overpay in picks and prospects to get rentals from teams the other fan base will come at you like it’s a witch hunt

It's hockey and some people are very passionate about it.

If Larkin and Yzerman can't work things out a trade with a new contract in place is more likely. Why I think Larkin hasn't been signed yet is Yzerman is more focused on getting the team ready for the start of the season. That also applies to Bertuzzi and Vrana. Detroit's first game bis on the 14th so once the team gets settled in, then Yzerman will start working on getting some players signed.

Ahh yes Ranger's fans have taught us well.

Did you actually read the article? Take a look at his other posts you will notice the same theme in every post. He is one angry bloger. Maybe it's because mommy and daddy didn't hug him enough as a child or it could be that he only has 29 followers.

1. I’m not a blogger 🤣 no clue why you think that 🤣.

2. My posts was in regards to all fans of all markets if you could comprehend it properly. Wasn’t a shot at you or red wing fans specifically. No need to get butt hurt.

He's talking about the author of the article, Sam Fels. Who, FWIW, is very much an asshole, but makes his points. Doesn't hide that he is a CHI homer.

I did. Want to make sure you do as well.

And for real, every fanbase sucks, particularly on this website - we are all a bunch of hockey nerds ranting about trade values and cap hits.

One of my closest friends is an insane Wings fan and I've been taunting him with this ever since Werenski signed his extension as payback for years of "Werenski's just biding his time til he can come home!" In fact, I'm going to send this to him now.

Thank you for responding to his post I'm still not sure how he thought I was talking about him. I read it and it almost seems like he is conflicted to some extent. He said some really nice things about the Wings. You are right the points he made can and do apply to every fanbase.

You do realize that second part wasn't about you or even directed at you. You might want to reread my comment because it obvious you have no idea what I was saying. A little advice if a post makes you angry you should wait until you calm down before responding so you don't make more mistakes like this.

🤔 definitely wasn’t angry. Maybe lost through text? So explain what you meant by the Rangers fan comment if it’s not directed at a rangers fan

The comment about the article/link wasn’t about me.. ya I understand that, I had no idea it was a link. But you took a shot at NYR fans correct? If not, I’m asking you to explain. And if so, my comment stands that I was saying “ALL FANS” are applicable to my comment. No one is angry. I’m literally trying to understand what it is you meant by your comment.
