No from the blues. We already have plenty of 4th line players. Don't need more of them

Smith would likely play on Columbus’s 4th line. He’s not going to get ice time over players like Gaudreau, Laine, Voracek, Nyquist, Chinakov, or Johnson, now with Laine out for 3-4 weeks (that’s what’s rumored) he might get 3rd line wing minutes if they decide to leave Marchenko in the AHL and not play Foudy in a top 9 role. He would probably play over Danforth, Robinson and Oliver. So I’d say Smith as a 4th line wing is a pretty accurate thing to say coming from a Columbus standpoint where they are still building.

I’d also be asking for the pick to go from Boston to take Smith vs coming from Columbus.

Johnson did not make the team to start the year and is not a RW.

Danforth a 30 year old smallish journeyman played 3rd line. Let’s not go crazy. Smith 82 game average for his career is 20g 41pts. That’s 2nd line production though he fits more a 3rd line role better. He’s not a 4.

If Laine misses time you have 2 true right shot RW on the roster Danforth and Olivier. Smith is an upgrade over both.

Again. Jackets decline based off cap restrictions. If they are contenders at the deadline this would be the type of move i’d see them making but Boston won’t be sellers. And they sure as hell are not paying to move a productive middle 6 wing whose contract is market value.

That does nothing for the Blues, thanks.
