I think Orlov is great but the difference in term and age makes this a non starter

Unless the Caps are giving up good young assets as well, like McMichael for example, there is no reason for the avs to do such a move

I like Girard a lot but don't think Caps would make this move. Orlov is so freakn good.

LOL wat Caps probably don't even do Orlov for Girard straight up. No way they then offer their top prospect and a 1st as well.

yeah not saying this happens also because of the AVS salary situation... but imo this is fair value. Orlov will be 32 and an ufa at the end of the year, lapierrex who might be their second best prospect but isn't a great one (imo he's better then mcmicheal), and a 2024 first. Girard is a very good and young player locked up until he is 29 with a very reasonable cap hit.

you are definitely overvaluing Orlov. Girard is the better player and younger and with the better and longer contract.what are you talking about

I have to disagree. Yes Girard has more value due to having longer contract, but imo their difference is not this great. Orlov is the better player of the two. Value difference that is equivalent of multiple firsts is just way too big.

really don't see in what world Orlov is better at hockey the Girard but I respect your opinion!

Not even close. Girard is perceived as an offensive D-man compared to much more defensive Orlov, yet Orlov had more points last year and is much better defensively. Girard's younger and due to term probably would fetch a higher price at the market, but calling him better than Orlov is very wrong.

Orlov is one of the most underrated Dmen in the NHL.hin and Jensen are easily our best pairing imo

I’m basing this off of one game yesterday. He wasn’t good at all. He will get his self together. He is sooo good. Just an idea I thought of

For the record: I think Orlov is awesome and one of the most underrated defensemen in the NHL. I also think Girard is very good, albeit a flawed player.

NHL teams don’t trade 24 year old top 4 defensemen with 5 more years of term for a 31 year old top 4 defenseman that is a pending UFA. Value isn’t here.

Orlov was the better player (by a relatively significant margin) last year and almost certainly will be this year. Not worth it for a Caps team that cares much more about this year than the next 3 after it.

He was fine for most of the game, however he was really bad when him and Carlson were on the ice together...Just keep him away from Carlson and he will be fine.

Carlson was easily the worst player on the ice...

Even by the eye test he looked good. I guess you're just remembering the 4th goal scored against? But that's more on Carly.
