Suck Hard for Bedard

Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 13, 2022
Published: Oct. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It’s clear that Slafkovsky, like Wright is not ready for the NHL just yet. In terms of destination, developing chemistry with Mesar, be it in Laval or with a junior club (facilitating a trade to get them on the same team) would be good as they both get used to the NA game and playing surface.

Habs are also taking their time with injuries. Matheson and Edmundson are now out for a while so that means our young defence is going to get an extended look.

This morning, Schueneman was recalled and he’ll be the 7th D or give one of the kids the odd night off.

Trades are based off of the player’s max value at the trade deadline and full salary-retained.
Trades
1.
MTL
    Placed on waivers
    ANA
    1. Drouin, Jonathan
    Additional Details:
Drouin was left as a healthy scratch and is amongst our most expensive forwards. He’s a UFA after this season.
    2.
    MTL
    1. Suzuki, Ryan
    2. 2024 3rd round pick (CAR)
    CAR
    1. Monahan, Sean ($3,187,500 retained)
    Additional Details:
A serviceable depth option for a contender like Carolina (can play C and LW). Would expect Montreal to fully retain on a deadline deal. He could bounce back and be a middle-6 contributor.
    3.
    MTL
    1. 2025 2nd round pick (COL)
    COL
    1. Dadonov, Evgeni ($2,500,000 retained)
    2. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
Another middle-6 contributor that can help a contender (if you check his no-trade-list first). Buyer beware, he’s as defensively liable as Hoffman.

Canes deadline acquisition is Max Pacioretty. Trading for Monahan makes no sense, especially when the cap space could be used to actually bring Patches in immediately. Not to mention that the Canes will have to drop someone from the top 6 to the “4th line” to fit Patches into the lineup, so acquiring Monahan wouldn’t make sense for that purpose either.

I just used Carolina as an example. But yes I agree.

I didn’t say “claimed” though, just “placed”

Canes will need an experienced 2C for a run at the cup. Clearly their weakest position with Trotcheck departure.

Not saying Monahan will be the best option available, but it does make sense. Don't you dare saying KK can do the job against NYR or TB...

Well, the numbers don’t lie, and the numbers are painting KK as a 2C. Just because you refuse to acknowledge those numbers, doesn’t mean they aren’t there.

I'm used to people cherry picking numbers but this is next level.

    I'm right because..."NuMbErS"

Must love how you did bother bringing up a single one... Was it the number of games he played on the wing last season? Or maybe his time on ice average last season? Hmmmm, probably not his number of points in last year's playoffs?!?(don't look it up, it's terrible)

    Good luck

A PP/60 that was among the best in the league, with it being better than MacKinnon. Maybe you have heard of him. Really good defensive metrics. Not to mention, in the games that he played more than 15 minutes he was scoring at a 1.5PPG pace. And your comment on his ice time, the only reason he didn’t get much was because he was being transitioned over to a system built for him to succeed, and yet with 4th line minutes and linemates like Stepan, Martinook, and Lorentz, who aren’t known for their offensive capabilities, he still was able to be on pace to beat his best offensive season in Montreal.

Since you are a Habs fan, you must know that KK is not a winger, but a natural Center. So how many games he played as a winger is irrelevant, especially since his play elevated when he got moved to center.

Maybe, you just refuse to accept anything positive about KK because you are still salty about the offer sheet situation. Or is there another reason why you deny the existence of the positive numbers KK has put up? I would love to know the answer to that. You clearly value offense much more than defense, and you seem quite blind to defensive numbers meaning more to certain teams.

Here's KK's number of the day for you:

    4th line

How do you like them apples?
