Pipe-dream Offseason but would be cool

Description
Obviously early to make any assumptions about Monahan, however, if the first game was any indicator of how is play will look for the remainder of the season I would definitely resign him. With all of the D prospects in the pipeline and each LHD being seemingly NHL capable (again it's early), one of MTL's older LHD will be on the chopping block. I would think that would be Edmundson as he could be a valuable trade piece and I do not see them moving on from Matheson that quickly. If I am not mistaken, which I could be, LA needs a stronger and more experienced presence on the left side and perhaps Edmundson could bring that, please correct me if I am wrong. Pastrnak is on his final year of his contract in Boston and who knows if he re-signs. I don't have in-depth knowledge of his feelings of staying in Boston or what his contract would look like there or even if he would have slight interest in coming to MTL, so that acquisition is just one I think would be cool, not necessarily something I find to be realistic. As far as the draft goes, Leo Carlsson is my favorite as of right now outside of picking first overall. He would bring even more size to the lineup and a left-handed shot / center. With Florida's pick I feel ideally they should choose a RHD unless by some divine miracle Florida falls from the grace of last year's performance and MTL gets another early pick. If Hughes manages to dump Hoffman and Armia in this offseason without taking much cap back, I would find that to be a massive victory alone. If Dach fixes his FO percentage and Monahan has a solid comeback season, I see Dvorak being expendable and a potential trade option to free up space for young guys playing up this coming year as well. This line-up is potentially missing an all-star defenseman and without assuming Price comes back, a true starting Goalie as I find Allen to be a solid 1B but not quite good enough to be the starter for a contending team.

Edited Oct. 13, 2022 at 7:22 p.m.. Reason: corrected typo
One year of a 30-year-old Edmundson isn't what we're looking for, Norlinder isn't a better prospect than Jakob Moverare, and the late second doesn't compensate us for giving up Durzi's future.

By the time this post becomes effective, we'll see how Durzi and Guhle compare; up to now, all of your Montreal colleagues have rejected the idea of exchanging one for the other no matter what reasonable draft picks are involved.

Just curious: what about Durzi for Xhekaj?

By the time the end of the season rolls around, Xhekaj might well have proven himself NHL material, but we'd essentially be giving up two years of development. And we'll need someone REALLY solid at #2LhD for 2023-2024.

We'll all have to see how Durzi, Spence, Moverare, Guhle and Xhekaj pan out, at least for one year.

I think the plan for Montreal is to have Guhle, Hutson and Harris on the left side. Trading Xhekaj for a young RHD would make sense to complete Mailloux and Barron on the right side.

What about Matt Roy for Joel Edmundson (barring he comes back healthy of course)? We have too many LHD and you have a surplus (to say the least!) of RHD.

By the time that we reach the next off-season, we probably won't need a stop-gap at #2LhD.

Pasta will be in his 30's by the time Montreal hits their compete window. Seems like a bad target to spend assets on. Same with him signing there if he wants a cup
