As long as he produces, he's fine in the top 6. Just don't expect him to be a gamechanger and you won't be disappointed unless he doesn't produce enough over the course of the year.

I don't see a spot for him there for long though if they resign the rest of their top 6, once Knies is a fix in the top 6. Malgin could fall out of the top 6 even if he does well for a rental/Robertson. I can see him and/or Robertson being traded for a top 4 D or top 6 F rental.

A fire hydrant could produce with tavares and nylander in this offensive system.

Hes a run of the mill guy who is probably more of a 4th liner than a 2nd liner. Hes not super quick, has okay hands, is small/plays small, okay two way guy.

Hes the new Semyonov, the new Lehtonen, a new version of Mikheyev or Engvall = older guy (mid 20s) who's had pro experience and is a better nhler now than a rookie, but is pretty average all the way around. If you remeber back to Mikheyev and Engvall, it took them 2-3 years to find their groove.

Do the TMLF have 2-3 years for Malgin to find a groove, is Malgin's upside better than Robertsons with 2-3 yrs of second line time?

He's a better chance for some production than NAK or Kampf or ZAR, but really on an "elite" team (as an article called the Leafs last week) hes really underwhelming. IMO, you bring up a kid (Robertson) and let him learn and he'll probably get the same production.

The Leafs are the second oldest team in the league and haven;t really played a rookie forward in 3 years.

Lol, the leafs are the 7th oldest team in the league and the difference between them and the kraken at 18th is just over a year. So basically Giordano throws the average off.

Looked it up yesterday, the leafs were middle of the pack at 27.5 yrs towards the end of 21-22, I saw on the stat site that they were second at 29.3 yrs with the opening day roster (which includes Benn on LTIR/Giordano/Jarnkrot/Murray?ZAR). The guys brought in are older collectively with just Malgin and NAK under that 29.3 average. It makes sense when you think the only 2 youngsters (1st-3rd year guys) on the leafs roster at the moment are 4th yr pros Sandin and liljegren.

Caps were oldest and Penguins were 3rd oldest

If you have a better more accurate source, let me know, and I will duly recant

LTIR guys dont help your argument, because Benn is 34, Engvall is 27-8 and Liljegren is 23, so the average age is still right around that 29-29.3.

I've provided above and if you really think there is 6 older teams, I'd be interested.

Or are you just trolling? I've given you the roster and the actual numbers above, the LTIR doesn;t help your argument.

If elite has 6 older teams post them.

Even on this site, theres average age by position

Well, my argument is simply that your sources are wrong.
And benn isnt on the roster because he's ahl bound as soon as he's healthy and engvall is not only 26 years old, he hasnt been on ltir since the season has started and has played both games.
And of my argument was that the ltir guys would help, well a 26 year old and a 23 year old would 100% bring down an average that higher than their age.
And elite prospects states the pens, caps, bolts, bruins, flames and islanders are all older

Thanks for the stats, I've provided them from the roster above, your snarky repsonse was, so you're not using the full roster? If you actually have the elite prospects and date of it and what players it contains, post it.

And while maybe Benn is AHL bound, the leafs dont have the cap to activate liljegren, so both the young guy and old guy are somewhat offsetting. Because neither can hit the roster.

Hahaha, I'm from England the month/date are reversed, its taken me 20 yrs to start doing it the UK way, its from Oct 12th, 2022

Could care less, I've got two sites that say the Leafs are second oldest roster and roster/LTIR, its a friday. I think the telling stats lie in the fact that theres alot of guys 30+, and only 2 under the age of 25, and they are both 4th yr professionals. Older guys, Retreads and limited guys: NAK, ZAR, and Malgin brought in and no youth.

Well figured you had the ability to look up a simple we page yourself, but here ya go
https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/nhl/teams-physical-stats/2022-2023
Has the leafs at 28.23 years average and hey, look at that ,they include benn on the roster so they're actually younger on average!
You also might wanna ease up on the troll stuff when you cant even look at a roster and notice one guy you're putting on ltir has been active the entire time

Don't blame Malgin for what he is. Blame Dubas and Leafs executives for having mismanaged the cap where the Leafs have to go cheap on wingers after you get past Marner's and Nylander's contracts.
