There isn’t a team in the league that is retaining for 8 years.

Ya not exactly sure if there’s a trade with a 8 year term player in it, a squad could be a lot of things in a 8 year window.

8 years ago the Blackhawks were a dynasty...

This is awful for both teams. Retention for 8 years is a no, and there’s no reason for Winnipeg to take on Jones. Chicago is stuck with that one.

The trade was made for this season 8 years. Regardless nobody is doing 7 years either.

Horrendous trade for the jets Toews is worth a 3rd max at 5 mil and Jones is worth a few firsts attached to him because he’s the biggest cap dump in the league

You'd get the salesman of the year award if you were able to get CHI to retain for that long and to get Jones to waive for WPG.

Seth jones would be Winnipegs best defenseman.

Do you work for ESPN? Just confidently blurting out terrible takes without ever watching a single game.

First of all I’ve watched a ton of Seth Jones games he’s horrible he’s worth a fraction of his contract easily a top 3 worst contract in the league

He plays on the worst team in the league. His numbers aren't gonna be good. He's a top pairing defenseman making a mil more than he should be.

I agree. That's why I have it being a million retained...

He is a top RD on most teams, playing with JMo would be amazing...but no one can afford 9.5

I personally dislike Seth Jones. I see his contract as an anchor. I'd rather pay $1M in retention x 8 years than $9.5M for the player for 8 years.

His numbers weren’t even that good when he was on Columbus he was a solid 2nd pairing he’s been bad for awhile he’s not even close to a top pair come on be realistic here

Chicago will have to do something to get rid of him. The Jets are one of a few teams that can afford even 8.5...

He wasn’t amazing in CBJ. He was good, but not an elite top pairing Rd. I’d rather spend 8.5m elsewhere.
