Best Case Trade Deadline

Created by: Georock15
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 15, 2022
Published: Oct. 15, 2022
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Myers, Tyler
  2. 2023 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Takes on cap and possibly helps RD next year for a pick
VAN
  1. Nutivaara, Markus
  2. Simek, Radim
Additional Details:
If Simek continues to plays well and Nutivaara stays healthy this improves depth and saves cap space for next year
2.
SJS
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Moves on from Merkley, who needs a chance in a new place. Not a Grier type player, who wants grit over skill.
DAL
  1. Merkley, Ryan
Additional Details:
NHL ready puck moving D still on his ELC in need of a chance. Not a top 4 D but should be a Krug type if protected on the 3rd pair. Could pair well with Suter and next contract should be cheap too.
3.
SJS
  1. 2023 1st round pick (BUF)
BUF
  1. Bonino, Nick
  2. Labanc, Kevin
  3. Reimer, James
Additional Details:
Veteran depth for a playoff push. Quality starting goaltender, top 6 winger and bottom 6 center/winger and excellent penalty kill.

  • Rūdolfs Balcers: $8,334

Canucks aren't trading a 1st round pick in a stacked draft to dump a overpaid but useful defenseman

Sabres forwards are loaded and if they're challenging for a playoff spot then that means the goaltending is holding up. Nothing worth a 1st there

Sabres aren’t trading 1st round picks
Especially not for those VERY average (at best) players
Laughable dude, laughable

Canucks aren’t trading a 2023 first to get a worse RD. We are better on just waiting out Myers’ contract

Stars don't need Merkley, they have 8 NHL caliber defenseman already. And I don't think that Merkley is necessarily an upgrade over either Hakanpaa or Miller
