There's really zero point in putting Jarnrok and Reese on their off side for no reason. Kubelle also hasn't played nearly good enough to get a third line promotion. Statistically ( regardless of Engvalls poor play) the third line has been the most dominant for the first 3 games.

The fourth line has sucked. Some balance between the bottom six would help. Engvall was good with kampf last year too

They get Kampf last year to be the shutdown center and he did an amazing job at it. So, what do they do demote him and put Kerfoot there who hasn't been able to do that role. Great coaching and management.

I think it’s more of a matter of just overall team depth. Nowhere to put kerfoot in the top six so they had to put him at 3C. Maybe kerfoot Kampf and Jarnkrok as a 3rd line and ZAR Gaudette and NAK as the fourth line?

I think the idea is that he still is the shutdown center. ZAR is also a purely defense guy and NAK is a forechecker. So the Kerfoot line is more of a two way line whereas the ZAR - Kampf duo line is still the shutdown. No real 4th vs 3rd line just two situational bottom 6 lines. It does make sense
