      I know the Rangers are the popular destination, but why not exactly? Kane has spoken incredibly highly of Barzal multiple times in the past. We only make this trade if NYI look legit by the deadline. We have a new building and world class facilities. It's still the NY area and Lou could pay him. Lamoriello has tried to land a big name, this is yet another chance to do that.

      I think the price is going to be too high for Lou to pay (See Kadri, JT Miller, and so on), NYI doesn't look like a top contender Kane would waive his NMC for, and there's not enough offensively gifted players on this team after Barzal and Dobson. There are other teams with much more appealing rosters (NYR, COL, LAK, EDM, CGY, CAR).

      Islanders aren't even making the playoffs, they don't have the 4th best team in the Metro. Canes, Rangers, Penguins and Capitals all make it before the New York Islanders therefore Patrick Kane isn't waiving his NMC to go to Long Island

      It's only 2/3 games into the season. The "Isles arent making the playoffs" argument cannot even be made yet. Nice try

      Show me where they've improved over last year? They finished 13th overall and haven't done a thing to improve their current roster this year. Even if Sorokin steals a few games it won't be enough.

      two game sample size doesn’t mean much but it does appear they’ve changed the offensive system to focus more on controlled zone entries and odd man rush opportunities as opposed to trotz’s more conservative style. whether that actually stays consistent and works throughout a whole season is a question for sure but they have made changes even if they aren’t personnel

      The isles lead the league for goals scored by defenseman. They upgraded with Romanov and Salo

      the Islanders finished 9th in the conference last year, not 13th (ie, they had the best record of teams that missed the playoffs in the eastern conference)

      -they turned their LD2/LD3 depth chart from Zdeno Chara & Andy Greene into Alexander Romanov & Robin Salo;
      -they are starting the season with both of the goalies in their tandem fully healthy and ready to go;
      -they are *not* starting the season with a meandering 13-game road trip that prevents them from building any sort of rhythm;
      -we are all hoping that COVID will not be playing havoc with this year's NHL games and forcing the Senators and Islanders to play multiple games with half their AHL teams on emergency loan because of positive COVID tests before the league actually postpones a game

      And for what it's worth - the Caps are the oldest team in the league and will be missing Tom Wilson for a good chunk fo the year and Nick Backstrom for potentially the whole season; Pittsburgh turned John Marino & Mike Matheson into Jeff Petry & a guy that's playing in the AHL for them right now and is relying on a ton of guys in their mid/late-30s to keep up their level of play & stay healthy; and the Rangers go the way their goalie goes - if Igor struggles they're going to struggle, too. Carolina's good, though - they probably win the division again.

      The Islanders finished 13th overall, About 4 places under a wild card spot. That's what i'm talking about not the eastern conference but the entire league.

      Yeah that's because other than Nelson and Barzal the forward core can't score to save their own lives. So the defense basically has to do everything.

      Lee had 28 goals last season, has 3 pts in 2 games this season. Wahlstrom is also a very good goal scorer.

      It's not just me saying that the Islanders won't make the playoffs, But most of the experts have them just barely finishing under the wild card spot.

      The “experts” said they wouldn’t make the playoffs in 18-19, 19-20, and 20-21 seasons. It doesn’t really matter. The isles have one of the best D cores in the league and a superstar goaltender. That’s their strength.

      They offered Kadri the same deal as Calgary but he didn’t accept THANKFULLY and for JT Miller they were never really in on JT they just made a rumour at the draft so they could get Romanov

      are you talking about their draft position? Because that's just a confusing way to phrase it - when you say a team finished 13th overall in a 32-team league, I would be assuming that you're talking about a team that finished in the upper-half of the league (ie, a team that's 13th overall in goals scored would have more goals scored than 19 teams, but less than 12 other teams). This is like saying that Montreal finished 1st overall because they won the draft lottery and got the 1OA pick.

      Even though the Isles finished 16 points out of a playoff spot given the fact that both wild card teams last year both had 100 points. The isles finished at the top of the teams that did not make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. mediocre but not a horrible team.

      I highly doubt "They" made a rumor for Kadri to get Romanov. Lou doesn't do any of that, so that makes no sense.

      Then you don’t know Lou because that’s exactly what he would do

      I find it hard to believe the guy who purposely doesn't announce contracts would do that.
