Predictions for the end of this sub par Canucks season

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 11, 2022
Published: Oct. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1) Kuzmenko becomes a fan and team favorite and gets a 2-3 year extension in the middle of the season. This will allow him to hit another big payday while he's still in his prime.

2) The team and Horvat stay far apart on extension talks and it becomes clear he'll be dealt at the deadline when the team isn't holding down a playoff spot. This trade could obviously be to any contender, but I chose COL here as they'll definitely be all-in to repeat. Added Schenn as a solid depth Dman in exchange for the extra 3rd rounder.

3) VAN signs Jake Livingstone after his NCAA season ends. Given the team's obvious need on RHD he'll be given every opportunity to get games in with the team right away.

4) Burroughs will be given a modest extension to serve as a 6/7 guy for the next couple seasons, as he'll prove to be a reliable, physical presence and is still in his prime.

I don't see Horvat returning Newhook. Maybe Olausson

Horvat won't return Newhook AND the '23 first. Avs pass easily as Horvat would be a rental.

This seems extremely steep for a rental.

I highly doubt the Avs would trade Newhook. They'd probably move Olausson or Behrens instead

COL isn’t doing that. COL would be looking to add to their roster not subtract from it. Newhook is an automatic no. Also what purpose does Schenn serve the Avs, he is playing over Manson or EJ?

Doubt they would do that either. Avs don’t trade top assets unless they can keep they plsyer;, kuemper the exception to that as they had no other choice

They can’t keep horvat, so won’t burn the remaining top prospects who could be nhlers for a pure rental
