I know its still super early but what would you guys do?
With the defense, we obviously have Smith in the AHL, but who do we get rid of if we want him to be called up?
Also, once Blueger is healthy, who comes out of the lineup? I would personally take out Archibald, but what options do we have?
Any chance the Pens move Pettersson or McGinn to create some cap flexibility or do we just ride with the team until injuries take place?
Also, there is a possibility cap will rise by $4M next season if escrow is paid, so that could be huge.
love me some PO, but I'd make a move right now to get Ty some NHL minutes. Maybe use PO to get another bottom 6 guy, or even ship out McGinn so we have $$ for the deadline

I have honestly liked POJ a lot so far.. yes his skating leaves a bit to be desired, but he makes safe decisions. I would rather move Pettersson if I had to, but I dont think that is the move right now.
I don't see an easy way out. I don't like the idea of moving out Dumo or Petterson because that would leave a pretty inexperienced LD, which is fine for a rebuilding team, but we are not one of those.
If I had to choose someone to send down for Blueger, it would be Archibald, but I get the feeling that it would be Poehling.
As for more permanent moves, McGinn at this point feels like the most sensible option, assuming it's palatable to give some rebuilding team assets for his contract if need be.
Regardless of what the outcome is, the dust hasn't settled on the start of the season, so patience is best for now.

That's fair.. I am just also thinking of the bigger picture.. next offseason, Dumo is a UFA, so regardless, that leaves us with Pettersson, Smith and POJ.. Will we still think that that is an inexperienced blueline next year? If so, might as well move on from POJ sooner rather than later if that is the plan, even though I am not crazy about it.
We also dont need to send anyone down, just scratch them. I think Poehling has just been better than Archibald and he can also take faceoffs which is a massive plus.

I'm not really thinking about next season yet. It's still really early in this one and a lot could change between now and then. Besides, the Pens are looking to be competative now.
As for deciding between Archibald and Poehling, I agree that Poehling has been better, but I also thought Zohorna and Caggiula were better than Archibald in the preseason. Management seems to like Archibald, for some reason. I think they'd end up putting him in the lineup instead once Blueger comes back.
