Liljegren and Robertson are the cost of the 3 upgrades.

You think? All 3 Buffalo players are better than the 3 Toronto roster players. Kallgren for Comrie is a significant upgrade. As is Lyubushkin for Holl. Tuck and Kerfoot are pretty close. But you'd rather have Tuch. I considered only 1 of either Robertson or Liljegren. But i dont think its enough then. Simmonds is just to give him a chance to play. He has no value.

Buffalo declines. They're trying to get better not replace useful players with a huge pile of Leafs rejects.

Interesting take. Robertson is a top level prospect and Liljegren is NHL ready rookie with a high ceiling. Kerfoot only 28. Kallgren 26. This is a futures trade essentially

Tuch not going anywhere. He is probably the fan favorite. The only player who is intriguing is Robertson

Tor gets their division rivals starting goalie, top 6 forward, and a top 6 dman.

BUF gets... a prospect and bottom tier NHLers.

Alot crap doesn't equal nice things.

Also seems like Buf might have made some strides forward, not sure why they would take a few steps back.

Tuchs numbers are only marginally better than Kerfoots.

Interesting. Kerfoot and Tuchs numbers are very comparable. Holl is as much a "top 6" D man as Lyubushkin. (hint, neither of them are top 4) and starting goalie? He had 30 career games with closer to a 4 GGA in the NHL than 3...He isnt even really a backup. He's a third stringer. And he is 27. In 5-7 years, when BUF has rebuilt, will he be the answer? I doubt it.

Tuch grew up a Sabres fan and means more to the organization now than just his numbers. He also brings more to the table than just points, which it would seem you are aware of otherwise you'd simply keep Kerfoot at his lower caphit. None of the pieces offered fit needs for Buffalo. They need better goaltending, not to get worse, they need the toughness and grit that Lyubushkin brings, and they already have plenty of forward prospects so Robertson while good is just yet another one they would need to somehow find space for on the roster in the next 3 years.

Buffalo needs to upgrade, not downgrade for more futures.

Then why would toronto make this trade if all things are equal? Wouldn't they be giving up more?

Truth is all advanced metrics shows Tuch drives possession and scoring when on the ice. Kerfoot does not do any of that. Comire is their starting goalie. He also has a .930 save percentage this season and a .920 last year. Also he is top 5 in save percentage from slot scoring chances.

Plus why would BUF trade away the two “big” free agency signings, when both are playing as GMKA predicted?

Agreed, both are playing above the contract level anyway, and BUF isn’t helping TOR…like ever….
