What I wouldve done if I was Zito

Description
I think this team would've had a significantly better defense while not losing too too much offense and having 2 additional 1sts. Felt from the start the Tkachuk trade was dumb from Florida

Zito definitely messed up when he traded Weegar.
But trading Huby for a first and third is also brutal if they are suppose to be in a win now window.

Then you just trade him for more, probably the least consequential part of this. More meant to show that keeping Marchment and Weegar while retaining futures at the lone cost of Huberdeau would've 100% been the better route to take for long term contention. Now there offense is slightly worse, their defense is bad and they have 0 futures

They both were gone regardless. Weegar was done on this team after his horrible playoff performances the last two years. And marchment priced himself out. Weegar should have never been involved in the huberdeau trade and traded to Ottawa for something that would have helped this team.plus how can you say we have zero futures when everyone is now younger than 27 but bob and a few others. This team is significantly younger and needed soemthing changed. I just dont agree with giving up the first and weegar in the trade. But tkachuk has been our best player so far.
