With the pending unveiling of the NHL's reverse retro 2.0 jerseys, there has been a lot of talk about jerseys (obviously). There have been a lot of fantastic jerseys throughout the NHL's history and also a lot of duds, so Im curious what everyone thinks is the best and worst jersey of all time in your personal opinions.
Favourite Jersey of All Time: The 1992 - 2002 Pittsburgh Penguins Away Jersey. This jersey is brilliant. The robo-penguin logo is genuinely the greatest sports logo of all time in my opinion. The shade of yellow (or rather gold) in contrast to the white is perfect. The striping patterns are beautiful, and the numbers being low on the sleeves is so unique. I am also a huge fan of the home jersey from this time period, but the gradient is a little divisive. I personally like it, but the away jersey is clearly better.
Honorable Mentions: The 1985 - 1986 Toronto Maple Leafs Home / Away Jerseys, the 2021 - 202X Home / Away Jerseys, the 1967 - 1988 L.A Kings Home Jersey, the 2020 Washington Capitals Reverse Retro, and the 1979 - 1980 Hartford Whalers Home Jersey.
Least Favourite Jersey of All Time: By a landslide, my least favourite jersey is the 1995 - 1996 L.A Kings Alternate Jersey, a.k.a the Burger King jersey. It is a masterclass in poor graphic design. There is not a single redeeming factor. The offset logo, the terrible colour scheme, the disgusting gradient "swoosh", the font, and even just the terrible contrast between the colours. It gives me a headache to look at. Genuinely one of the worst things I have ever laid my eyes on.
Dishonourable Mentions The 2011 - 2014 New York Islanders Alternate Jersey, the 1978 - 1982 Vancouver Canucks Home / Away Jerseys, the 2009 - 2011 Ottawa Senators Alternate Jersey, the 2013 - 2014 Buffalo Sabres Alternate Jersey, and the 2009 Montreal Canadiens Throwback Jerseys.
