What would it take

Description
The the Avs Captain out, is now the time to reunite Drouin with MacKinnon?
There would be picks and perhaps prospects going around and more so in the Avs direction.
I threw Byron in there for Cap space but any combo that can work should get done in my opinion.
Trades
1.
COL
  1. Drouin, Jonathan ($2,750,000 retained)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
  3. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I know I went over board with picks and prospects LOL!
MTL
MTL
  1. Cogliano, Andrew
  2. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
I'm sure Beaucage would not be part of any deal but I threw him in anyhow.

Montreal can get a 2nd or 3rd for Drouin at the deadline by half retaining him, why should we add anything? It's the Avs who are going to be looking to make a deal to fill the void not the Habs.

Nothing about that Drouin trade makes sense or would be of interest to COL. I wouldn’t take Drouin if he was 50% retained for futures to be honest. Would be a waste of cap space.

The Beaucage trade could be possible but Byron needs to be removed from the deal.

No really interested in Evans as there’s always going to be much cheaper options for the 4C spot.

Avs have 0 interest in Drouin, lets stop this already

If you think Drouin who is getting healthy scratched for a lottery team is "replacement" for landeskog when hes out, that is some wild takes.
Wouldnt trade Cogliano straight up for Drouin, thats how bad of a fit Drouin is on the Avs.

I could tell you are a MTL fan just by looking at the trades. It means they are really onesided since I'm a MTL fan too.

Just to make the Cap work for the Avs only.

Not all the trades would happen, most was done to help the Avs with the Cap.

Parts have been removed although that doesn't make things any better, lol.
And Never answer a question with another question, now that's no joke!

I am saying you don't need to add a 2nd and 4th, if the Avs see a need to fill the hole left by Landy they would likely pay the late 1st without adding anything else and since Landy will be on LTIR then they don't need cap space either. If you chose to you could also make the deal Drouin for the 2025 2nd with the condition that if Drouin scores more than 50 points and plays in a minimum of 50% of the Avs games it upgrades to their 2023 1st.

Except the Avs won't pay the late first, especially not for Drouin who basically has negative value.

Basically Drouin plus the 2nd for future considerations MIGHT, and I only say might, tempt the Avs for something like future considerations or a late pick. Basically remove everything else. Habs fans are deluded if they think Drouin has positive value at this point.

Pretty much anyone who posts trades on this site or talks about NHL trades at parties are delusional about there favorite team. The term negative value is thrown around way to much, so much so you actually believe it. If not now then come TDL, Drouin will be traded for more than what you think he will....Remember this post when he does!
In the unlikelyhood he doesn't, then I'll allow you to forget it altogether.

Agreed on the first part. Every fan is biased towards their own team no matter how honest they try to be, (and there are at least some on here that attempt to)....after all the whole point is it comes from fanatic. I believe Drouin however does currently have negative value in that he isn't worth his cap hit and hasn't produced much, nor has he matched up to the hype from his draft year. The Habs would have to pay to dump his contract. Now TDL, IF he becomes any kind of performer of even reasonable note, then he might, just might, have some value to another team. That is however a completely different story to right now as a 'replacement' or even stand in for Landy.

As the TDL gets closer as on a pro-rated contract, Drouin gets more worth it with retention.
You can't compare Landy to Drouin, probably shouldn't have their names in the same sentence. Other than when we are all saying; "Can you believe that Drouin has been traded to the Avs as a stop gap while Landy is injured". LOL
