Good signing.

But the question many will have is....what happens with Dustin Wolf?

Nice raise for the very competitive backup goalie (good for 20 plus games). And it’s not like they are short on goalies with one of the best goaile prospects in Dustin Wolf.

Has some very nice numbers last year

IF they go that route, could make trading Vladar that much easier now that teams know his cap hit

Wolf has 3 more seasons of waivers exemption left. I'd be unsurprised to either see the Flames overripen the kid while Markstrom's deal winds down into a short buyout.

That or he's a trade chip as the Flames continue to push all-in.

Not a bad contract but it seems like a lot to give a backup goalie who's an RFA. Maybe I'm just not quite as high on Vladar as others are.

I would typically agree with that statement 99% of the time but if you focus on how the Flames' core is supposed to age out in say, 5 years, having a really good goaltender makes doing the tanking half of this procedure a nightmare.

I wouldn't move him for a rental, but if Kylington, Wolf, a high pick, and a Lucic dump gets you Timo Meier, that's a deal the Flames have to look at for a metric minute.

Mediocre contract imo. But now what about Wolf?
