With out a doubt I'd take Lindstrom and a 2nd over a 29yr old DeMelo especially with Detroit not being a playoff team this season.

Really?

Well Ottawa and Colombus both improved more than Detroit this offseason and that was before we lost 2 top 6 forwards. That's htf I know that!

I'm from Europe so the fan culture is different here. But cheering for a rivalry team to make the playoffs instead of your own team should not be a thing anywhere. Especially when only 4-7 games have been played.

Jackets have started poorly +Laine is out from Columbus as well.

I would also consider that North American culture as well. Routing against your own team is strangely a capfriendly thing.

This is how I think the eastern conference breaks in tiers.

Playoff teams
Carolina
Florida
NY Rangers
Pittsburgh
Tampa Bay
Toronto

Best shot at a wild card spot.
Washington
Boston
Ottawa

Could make thinks interesting but likely headed for the lottery
NY Islanders
Colombus
New Jersey
Detroit
Buffalo

Bedard sweepstakes.
Montreal
Philly

So yes Detroit improved this offseason but they haven't improved enough to earn a playoff spot. If you look at how Yzerman filled the holes in the roster it was mostly done with UFAs only trading 1 pick to get Husso. My theory is he knows they are close but doesn't think they are a playoff team yet. Choosing to save his picks as this might be Detroit's last year in the lottery.

Oh, you're listing all teams you believe in the Bedard sweepstakes? Not just the eastern teams? In that case, you forgot to add Vancouver into that tier

Most people would realize only one Eastern Conference team is probably a mistake. So you either really wanted to start an argument or you're really not that bright. Which its it?
