Dvorak is a 3rd line centre on a ridiculous contract he’s worth peanuts at this point. Girard is a top puck moving d man and is on a great contract

A montreal fan would accept a trade posted by a montreal fan that benefits montreal? No way

Avs fans are getting as bad as Leafs fans, they only want to have league min contracts in their bottom 6 and pay their top 6 10+ mil each LMAO. I guess they are looking to be the next team that has a 20 year 1st round exit streak! Dvo isn't overpaid he is just underrated like Lehkonen was.

When you watch a full shift of Dvorak, poor guy, he is playing with pilons
But he isnt good enough to be a consistent top 6 Center
He is a 3C unfortunately, but a good one all around

Considering they just won the cup, who cares if they have to fill out their roster with cheap contracts, their stars that drive the bus are all locked in for a long time,

Avs are not going away,

Source? Are there any contenders that are paying that much for a 3C?

The challenge for the Avs is that they have a bunch of expensive star power in their top 6 and will need to extend Newhook and Byram next summer. In a flat cap world, a team with the Avs cap structure can’t be paying $5M for the 7/8th best forward in the depth chart without making a major sacrifice elsewhere in the lineup.

No need for Girard. We do not see him in playoffs. Besides Harris might become that puck moving def at a cheaper salary.

first no dvorak's contract isnt a ridiculous contract, 4.45 mil, with the cap going up, for a guy who can kill penalties, is massive in the face off circle, and can put up close to 40 points is at worst a slight overpay.
that said obviously habs would be adding a lot to even out the value and i'm not sure what that would look like but i assume any future assets that the aves could then flip at the deadline to make another push, i.e Florida's 1st and a lesser prospect or 2

Tampa had Yanni Gourde at $5M, Islanders had Pageau at $5M, Bruins had Coyle at $5M, Blues had Bozak at $5M, Flames currently have Backlund at that price...

I mean, the Lightning famously had to play with LTIR to make that work before losing Gourde in expansion. Islanders lost Devon Toews for next to nothing as a result of that decision. Bruins have Bergeron and Krejci making a combined $3.5M AAV. And Bozak was before the flat cap.

Backlund is the only one there that feels particularly relevant.

Islanders lost Toews because of incompetent management and Johnny Boychuk. A $5M commitment to Pageau wasn't problematic for them.
