Gee, the Sens shouldn't be having a cap problem but they do.

Just looking at the roster poster. 21 man roster, 430,00 in cap space with bonuses that might go over 1m. That's with a Zaitsev buyout.
Sanderson to sign and few others RFAs to sign the following year. I never liked the three year contract for Giroux. It's similar to the Marleau deal. Sens will be squeezing or losing younger players if they have to retain Giroux

Actually unless Sanderson demands 9mill+, next season all the buyout cap goes away, which means Sanderson can easily be signed. We can always trade Joseph.

Wdym? It's a 2 years bridge deal. Look at Kyrou and Thomas in St. Louis for example. Or Bratt, etc

Not disastrous, Giroux will still be good by then. Worst case scenario they trade him but the cap will still be going up and the Sens will have their whole core signed long term

Don't forget there's several M$ in dead money from buyouts, etc. This will expire soon...

It's going to be a bit tight for 2023-24 but should be totally fine after that

Giroux will almost certainly be a far more productive player than Marleau was in Toronto and the cap is higher now and rising so I don't think they are comparable. But yeah the flat cap is screwing everyone.

If Pinto gets 25 goals and 50 points this year which is totally reasonable why would he take roughly half his market value?

Because bridge. Look what these players made and how much they paced for.

There's a lot more examples if you want.
