For the Montreal trade, Montreal is getting screwed. Caufield alone probably requires Oettinger and the first, and you can probably add on more to that total. But adding in Benn, even with the retention, Dallas would have to pay a hell of a lot more to get out of the negative value they are giving up.

As for the other trade, Dallas is getting fleeced left, right, and center. The main piece is Perron, and his value is about the same as Lindell, albeit Lindell is probably more valuable with the retention. But the massive overpay for an extremely overrated goalie in Ned is very dumb for Dallas to do.

Dallas and Montreal both pass trade #1.

And Detroit passes on trade #2.

Ottienger for Caufield would be a great trade imo. But Dallas doesn't need Caufield really.

I think it's safe to say, neither team accepts.

Agreed. Would love to bring Otter to MTL though

Caufield for Oettinger would be a fair trade, but Caufield is untouchable for MTL.

Detroit passes? scream

Yeah Detroit passes.

We're not trading David Perron who's been one of our hottest players of late.

Alex Nedeljkovic wont commit long term to Dallas, So it's a moot point. He wants to play in Detroit where he lives.

Olli Maatta with 5 points is our leading Dman, And he's been a solid stabilizing partner for Filip Hronek.

Dallas doesn't have another 1st round pick until 2025, And sorry a 1st round pick that's still 3 drafts away is totally unacceptable.

I don't think Habs do Caufield vs Ottienger 1 for 1. First off, goalies are weird, they fluctuate like crazy. Second off. A top 15 goal scorer > than a top 10 goalie.

I think value wise, it would be a fair trade. I love Caufield, but Oettinger is a proven young number 1 goalie. Don't think they would trade Oettinger for less than that.

With Dallas already having Robertson as a 40+ goal scorer, i'd say both teams would rather keep their player.
