Description
Save your breath Vancouver fans, Im well aware you all dont approve of a Barrie trade.

I acknowledge Chychrun is a bit of a gamble given his injury history so maybe the Oilers shouldnt go for him, but they definitely shouldnt shy away from moving Broberg and a first who can improve the defence now, not in 2 yrs.

Both Arizona and Vancouver pass.

In the Chychrun trade it needs to be the Edmonton 2023 1st round pick not the Edmonton 2024 1st round pick.

(I know you said Canucks fans save your breather but whatever)

There is no world where that trade makes sense for Vancouver. There are a ton of reasons why

1. We are not trading the hometown kid we just signed

2. Schenn is not available for a trade unless Vancouver truly implodes in which case he’s available for picks and even that’s unlikely.

3. Barrie would be a garbage fit for Vancouver. He’s a PP specialist that wouldn’t get powerplay time

4. Canucks wouldn’t be cap compliant (I’m pretty sure)

5. Barrie would not be a fit with Hughes, if you think they could be see the Barrie to Toronto trade. I think Hughes is better defensively then Reilly then a lot however 2 offence first defenceman don’t work together. Especially with losing Schenn where the hole in Vancouvers D only widens

I do think Barrie is more likely to end up in Montreal if traded, but i wanted to see how this would look cap wise, and especially since the Oilers need a right shot centre man even more so next yr when Ryan is off the books.
