Is Liljegren really any better than Fabbro?

Seems like a lateral move.

Yes they have one of the worst defense in the league. Therefore they are not trading Shenn for something that doesn't make their defense better. He also has a very cheap contract.

What's the point of keeping him though? They aren't a very good team, he's old, a pending FA and he's just not very good. Holding onto assets they won't and don't help you win is dumb

I don't ever try to trade for him. He's a guy I would want to pencil in as the 8th defenceman in case injuries happen in the playoffs. Nothing more. There is a reason he's spent time in the AHL recently. He would be there on most teams but the canucks don't have an RD worth playing in the top 4 so they have to play Schenn

That’s what I thought. Strange how no one (at least I could think of) has a deal that is $725k considering how many guys are being paid the league minimum now, $750k

You should probably check to see if facts given by other people are facts before saying they are factless. Luke Schenn played 29 games in the AHL in 2018/19 season and another 6 the year after. He was the 8th defenceman for Tampa for one playoff run and then became the #1 RD in Vancouver who happen to have the worst RD in the league without question. These are indeed facts sir.

Yeah, you're right, I'm a Canucks fan just be clear and wasn't really sure what to value Schenn at because I for one like him while I know others feel he is a bottom 4 d-man. I figured at TDL he could fetch like an AHL player and a mid-level draft pick. At first, was leaning towards Fabbro for Schenn + C/D level prospect + 2nd/3rd but figured that would be an overpayment, especially because Nashville's d-core is up there age-wise with Ekholm and McDonagh both at 33 years.

Schenn is a good d-man. Maybe not top-pairing, but he works well with Quinn Hughes. He's a mentor and plays a good quality, effortful, physical defensive game. Teams need that. He could get in as other team's top-line RD I think such as working with Rielly on the Leafs, Hedman on Tampa and Dahlin on Buffalo as well. He allows offensive-defensemen to thrive when he's on the same pairing as them.

He wouldn't make the Leafs when they are healthy. If he did it would be sheltered 3rd pair minutes and PK time but Holl is much much better than him. So is Brodie and Liljegren. He's push Benn and Mete for the 7th defenceman position. He just isn't good

Lol, bully? Look sir, I am not the one running hot here. Schenn is an aging depth player. End of story everyone outside of the Canuck fan base sees this and since he has played in the AHL recently, it's pretty clear he's just not that good. The truth hurts I guess
