Makes sense really
That said it looks like we're trading a LD for Walker or Spence.
I was hoping for more but Hughes touched on the depth LA had with Clarke and Durzi forced to play LD
He said Walker and Spence's future's in LAK arent longterm

I think if Matheson didnt get hurt he was going to LAK
We played only 1 player in all 5 preseason games up until he got injured
He was being showcased to scouts because he fits our needs and system like oil and water.
We just got him cause its easier then taking a loss on Petry to just flip Matheson later to a contender.

Habs decline. Evans is cheaper on the cap and MTL isn't trying to win so why give a younger cheaper asset for Barrie

It is exactly what they are asking for Chychrun- First rnd pick & an A prospect, Tullio is a young promising mid level prospect for an added sweetner. They also said they are willing to take money back to make it work. Foegele is the money contract going back, the 2nd rnd pick is payment for taking the contract.

Lets not forget they lose leverage considering Chychrun very publicly asked for a trade out and the fact that he has been injury prone the last 2 seasons.

Broberg is not even close to an A level prospect and Chychrun would pretty much guarantee those 1st n 2nd rounders as the final 4.

The biggest issue with the Habs trade isn't the value but the fact that if we trade Evans it means Dvorak will be the 4C, having a 4.45 mil player on the 4th line is a waste of cap space IMO. Swap Evans for Dvo remove the Pick from the Habs side and add a 2nd from the Oilers

Chychrun is injured, that means nobody is trading for him right now. The other moves don't improve the team.

So the Oilers should pay Dvo 4.45mil to play 4c??? Lol no.

I share your concern about Chychrun being injury prone, I wasnt suggesting this trade be made until he was cleared by medical staff.
I disagree that Soucy & Geekie wouldn't make the team better. Yamo is doing sweet F all playing exclusively with McD or Drai. Geekie is a big body who is much more suited to play on the 3rd line and less of a cap hit. He can take faceoffs and he also kills penalties. I would do this trade with the plan to play PJ up in the top 6 for the remainder of the yr hoping to up his production and value for a potential trade in the offseason. If a true top 6 scoring RW cant be picked up via trade then they go after a big fish like Kane or Tarasenko in Free agency. Depending on how d prospects like Kesserling or Desharnais are developing, Soucy can walk as a UFA or resign if he will take a bit of a hometown discount. If he walks and Kess or Desh arent ready, shift Kulak to RD & play Niemo full time with him... Chychrun could also shift to the right.... plenty of options.

I didn't say Chychrun was injury prone, although that's true. I said "he's injured", meaning right now he isn't playing in the NHL. He had two off season surgeries (wrist and ankle, IIRC) and he isn't even practicing with his team yet. Nobody is trading anything for him until he's healthy and has played 20+ games at a high level.
