This could work or Murphy for Zaits + 1st + 4th?

If I was Chicago I would rather ask for a first straight up but definatly an interesting swap.

Yes he has a bomb of a shot on the PP and he can create offense

Idk that Ottawa moves their 1st for this. Would certainly be willing to add to this deal to move Zaitsev too. Maybe Jarventie, Thomson and two 2nds? Thomson could essentially step into Chicago's lineup imo, and Jarventie is a young talented winger with a monster shot.

Think the hawks would have to take this offer. Yes they might be able to get a late first but getting 4 potential prospects for Murphy would be a big win.

To me the hardest part is that the Hawks are having a hard time finding NHL ice time for their own D prospects. I'm not sure Lassi is the correct prospect heading to CHI. I understand that might work for OTT, but there's got to be a better fit. Greig or even Ostapchuk would be a better fit.

He's not an especially gifted passer or particularly creative with the puck on his stick (not that he's bad at either). He's not gonna QB your powerplay. He is offensively minded though, in the sense that he can move a puck up ice effectively, he gets pucks on net and he knows when to jump into the play offensively. His most important offensive asset is his shot. The "Thom Bomb" as its known in Belleville, he's got a legitimately deadly slapper, and he scores goals with it. Between last year and the start of this year, I saw a stat that he's scoring at like a 20 goal pace in the AHL. He's probably never gonna QB the powerplay like I said, but with that shot he could definitely still have PP upside as a shooter.

It's hard to come up with a comparison, because there are very few shot based offensive Dmen in the NHL. The best, imperfect comparison I can think of is if Dougie Hamilton was 6ft and a 4/5D. He'll be solid in both zones and can give you goals from your Defense.

Can't be overstated how big Nikita Zaitsev would be for helping them lose games.

or or, i know this is a radical move for OTT incompetent coach but PLAY THOMPSON rather than trade him and other assets for old overated Dman that has not played more than 58 games in a season in the last 4 years...

If Murphy is healthy, I would be ok with this

Please

This is MUCH better for Ottawa than Thomson + 2nd

Yes. He will never make the NHL for his defensive play (which might end up "ok") but his offensive skill is pretty good.

Damn, Chicago should be all over this if proposed

2 talented prospects and two 2nds for a Murphy-Zaitsev swap.

Don't think Dorion would propose anywhere close to this though, particularly considering his recent comments on Jarventie.

Personally I would much much rather send Zaitsev to Belleville (ala Del Zotto last season) then buy him out in the summer. That would cost me only $1,666,667 spread over 2 years in real dollars

I don't see anything in return for Greig that could help the Sens now.

Jarventie + Thomson + 2nd + 2nd + Zaitsev >>>>>>> Zaitsev + 1st + 4th or the proposed deal in OP

You take that and run
