Description
The few things that would stop Jarmo from doing this is IF Bo would sign an extension in Columbus and IF Bettman is right that the escrow could be paid off after this season and the cap shoots up next season instead so we can afford to sign Bo to that extension.

Is Bo capable of being that 1C CBJ need?

I don't think VAN would tear it down but if them extending JT instead of Bo says anything I think Bo **could be out.

** I know he is the captain so him not signing yet means little, similar to the Landeskog UFA saga maybe

Just very hypothetical with this.

Would this be the best move for CBJ to trade expensively for Bo? Don't forget Sillinger and Johnson in 2-3 years will be top line material and Bo would probably be sent to the 3rd line.

Def not the best move... But if Jarmo gets impatient and wants to win sooner rather than later than this is probs the most logical move. In the end I highly doubt we deviate from being patient and developing our young core.

You're not wrong, though whether Johnson can play C is up for debate - he's been on the wing so far, and if that's where he sticks, I'm cool with it.

I think a Horvat/ Sillinger situation at 1C/2C could be great. Plus, I think playing with Gaudreau and Laine/ KJ/ Marchenko/ whoever could really take Horvat's game to a new level.

As for the package, I don't think CBJ do Boqvist *and* CC. I'd do Boqvist, the 1st, a mid-rounder, and maybe add a Foudy/ Bean/ Bemstrom, etc. Give one of those three a change of scenery. CC has some good upside, but he is probably 2+ years from NHL ready, and has a lot of his game to still work on. Boqvist has some defensive issues to work on, but he's got the offensive upside, and I think if VAN is willing to give him a shot at 1RD, Hughes is a better partner/player than Werenski.

No idea what Boqvist's value is rn after his meh start to the season. Just hard to judge a trade package when including him

I wouldn't call Bo a 1C but he's a solid 2C

I don't think Horvat is a 1C. To me he is another Jenner, which is not a bad thing to have, but they both lack the high-end playmaking ability needed at that position. It would make this team very defensively sound down the middle, but they would need to find something to do with Roslovic. Jenner should remain in the middle. He's the best faceoff man on the team, and one of the better ones in the whole league.

I'm in the minority it seems, but I'm not totally sold on Sillinger. He plays hard, has good intangibles, but I think he might be better suited as a 3C. Projecting him higher in the lineup right now is just wishful thinking. He can be in the right place at the right time to score, and has a decent shot, but hasn't really shown any explosive skill that wows me.

Of course. I try not to get too worked up about it either way.

Two weeks ago, VAN was making ACGMs moving heaven and earth for Boqvist (or so it seemed). It feels like five games isn't really the sample size that should move the needle one way or the other.

Three games ago Chinakhov looked like he shouldn't be in the NHL...now he's one of our best offensive players. Four games ago KJ was a struggling rookie, now he's "in his groove" or whatever.

Early season superlatives, man lol

I see Horvat as a better Jenner, but he's definitely not the "game-changing 1C" that elite teams in the league seem to have. I feel the "well Bergeron isn't a true 1C but BOS makes it work" trope is a little played, but also has some merit. Even then, outside of KJ or Silly making big developmental jumps, I'm not sure I see one of those guys showing up on CBJ's roster in the near future.

I get it with Sillinger. At the same time, 31 points (including a hat trick) from an 18 year old not named McDavid or Matthews is pretty inspiring for how this guy could play out. I agree he's still probably a 2nd line guy long term, but at the same time, ask BOS fans how important Krejci was in his prime/ is to them now. What's most important to me for a Horvat/ Sillinger isn't that they turn into a Horton/ McDavid/ Matthews, but rather can they turn into a ROR/ Bergeron-type who can compliment their wings and drive play.
