No reason for the isles to make this deal. Doesn’t bring back a valuable asset or help the team improve in the short or long term. Also ur massively overpaying for Max Domi.

Leafs need a guy like Michael Pezzetta. But no one understands this in Toronto.

Not bad and not outside the realm.

Domi is a UFA and not really playing well enough, so CHI moving him for a high midlevel prospect like Hirvonen a weak prospect Voit and I would say a 3rd rounder is close for both teams.

Mayfield would get the 2nd I've taken from above, AND a better prospect than Tverberg, probably a Steeves or Amirov and a 4th. So a 2nd and a recovered Amirov and a 4th, thats close for both teams.

I would only point out that basing your deadline moves on Muzzin and his 5.6mil still being on LTIR is probably not accurate, and even without a 19th skater, you're still 2mil short. Wishing away Muzzin doesn;t make it happen

Muzzin was just added to LTIR and it seems like he is done for the season if not the rest of his career

Not sure thats entirely true. It was a neck injury, not a concussion. He was on IR, now on LTIR, but the idea that he is LTIR for the season AND for his career is more based on cap constraints and repeated injuries, unreliability.

Muzzin is also stubborn and a warrior and will want to come back. Prior to injury, most fans believed he wont waive his NTC.

But the fact its been reported that neck is the issue, no surgery is planned and definitely not a third concussion in the last 16 months, probably doesn;t spell the end of his career.

https://www.si.com/nhl/maple-leafs/news/why-the-maple-leafs-moved-jake-muzzin-from-regular-to-long-term-injured-reserve

"A couple of days ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs placed defenseman Jake Muzzin on the long-term injured reserve (LTIR), retroactive to when he sustained a neck injury on Oct. 17 against the Arizona Coyotes.

There was no change in Muzzin’ injury timeline to necessitate the change, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe.

“He hasn’t had the follow-up [appoinment] he was supposed to have and nothing has changed,” Keefe said.

The move was made merely to make some salary cap space available, which isn’t possible under regular injured reserve. With the new LTIR designation, the veteran defenseman will be out of the lineup until at least Nov. 11, due to the required 10 days and 24 days a player must sit before he can be activated.

But here’s why the club chose to make the move on Tuesday.

1) Heading into their game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, the Maple Leafs were at the maximum allowable 23 players with just under $750,000 in salary cap space. A shoulder injury to Kyle Clifford sustained in the 3-1 loss opened up another roster spot. The Leafs elected to call up defenseman Filip Kral, but his salary cap hit of $810,000 was more than the amount of space under the threshold. By moving Muzzin’s injury from IR to LTIR, the Leafs were able to get enough cap space to add the young defenseman to the active roster.

2) Under scenario 1, the Maple Leafs could have just continued to carry 22 players, but the move of Muzzin from IR to LTIR adds to injury exception space that will likely be utilized in the near future."
