Why doesn't Montreal just stick with their pick and draft their own player instead of trying to take a shortcut?

IMO they aren't far from competing and they have a lot of prospects in the system. IDK, I'm also kinda bored and wanted to make a post

An impact player with a $10M qualifying offer. Montreal should not be buying.

If I were Montreal, if I were trading the pick, I would go for a defensemen. They have a lot of forwards right now and into next year. Just my 2 cents. (Primarily a right d)

And then have to re-sign Meier, Caufield, Harris, Monahan and sign a starting Goaltender?

Hell no.

Timo pace over the last 3 seasons and this year is 61 points he isnt a elite guy who would be making close to 10 million.

Stop cutting corners

i mean meier is good but debrincat was younger, more proven, and the draft class was way way worse last year than it will be this year. Habs have played great the past 5 games, they also finished last this past season lets not forget

We shouldn't sign Monahan. Trade him at the deadline. Get another high pick for him.
