MTL trade by far the best dman for a dman who will help the tank
The PP won't work with Barrie, Alex Burrows is the problem since day 1
Bad assets management, MTL will be a bottom 5 team, and an healthy Edmundson would bring a Chiarot package

Beaudin is an LD, and likely doesn't crack the roster even with Edmundson gone.

Barrie is only powerplay, defensive liability, as an Oilers fan, take this and run, Kovacevic is mean, and plays hard minutes defensively, Edmundson if he returns to health, is a better option than Barrie, and rounds out the left side.

As for Montreal, they are better shipping these two off for better returns than Barrie.

Holloway is likely an untouchable, as the Oil desperately need top talent ELC's to round out the forward core.

I think Montreal could find a better trade partner in other teams than picking up the Oil's scrap.

How can people say this is bad for Montreal? Edmonton is flipping a coin if Edmonson can play even close to a full season and since Edmonton is planning to have a deep run in playoffs my bet they stick with Barrie who has been healthy his entire career.. Edmonson is no use to Edmonton if he lands back on ltir risk isn't worth it.

I think Armia (or Hoffman) for Barrie is more fair and we need Edmundson

Oh perhaps I worded it poorly. Should’ve said worst case scenario the oilers just got out of Barrie’s contract. Worst case Edmundson goes to LTIR for the year and Edmonton’s got some money to grab an actual good defensemen. Or Edmundson just plays and they already improve on D. Still, Habs reject this trade.
