Description
These trade skeletons are just looking at potential roster player/cap component swaps rather than centerpieces

Some Questions for you guys:
1) What would the remaining value components be that LA or the other team would want/willing to give up?
2) If LA were to acquire Kane, what do you guys think the chances are that they could sign him to an extension considering Vilardi, Moore, Anderson and Co are up for extensions? They do currently have a projected 15.6m+ (~20m w/ a 4m rise) next season for ~7 players.

MTL will probably want to send cap back Dadonov at 2.5mx1 or Drouin at 2.75mx1
    Other options:
    TOR-Engvall (2.25mx1)
    OTT- Cap space

If you didn't read the description, these are trade skeletons focusing on the cap component, not trade value

    1. Walker, Sean

Assuming this trade happens sometime in the near future or before the second half of the season.

    1. Iafallo, Alex
    2. 2023 1st round pick (LAK)
    Additional Details:
Iafallo looks like he's going to have a great season, I'm speculating that he could be the cap component if LA is willing to sign Kane to an extension or even to just allow for Vilardi and Co to get extensions.

Why would Chicago want Iafallo? They're blowing it up. They probably don't want anyone over age 21-22.

I wouldn't trade Iafallo for a rental, regardless. He's one of the most underrated players in the NHL.

Chicago could flip Iaffallo the following year, or at the deadline if they trade Kane sometime in January. He's a good player like you implied, and chances are he doesn't have a bigger impact than Kane, so he wouldn't ruin their "tanking" which is failing atm anyways. They definitely would want a prospect too (probably would have to be a B prospect). There probably would be other components too, I wasn't trying to make a complete trade in either case just looking at the cap components.

So, then you think there is no chance for them to resign Kane (if he was willing) considering their cap situation? Or you just wouldn't want them to even if they could?

No. The Kings don't have the cap space to sign another big money forward. If Kane is willing to sign an extension for $6M then maybe, but that's not going to happen.

I'm predicting that he signs at 7m (or low 7s) especially if he's resigns with a team that he gets traded to, but I get it could be really tight unless the cap does go up a lot more than 4m next year. They will probably want to lock up Vilardi to an 8mx8 deal if he keeps it up, and there's the other guys too.

On the low end Kane signs a $7M deal, but could easily be $8.5M...depends on term more then anything.

Hawks are going to want a very good prospect and 1st; now if this 2023 1st is a lottery pick then that alone may do it.

LA definitely has the prospect pool to just use futures to acquire him and pay for double retention without giving up a roster player.

If they take the path, based on the skeleton that I suggested, perhaps they go with Iafallo+2023 1st (top 10 protected)+B-prospect+ a flyer on Turcotte, Chicago will probably have to add a few picks on their side though. This is assuming that Kane isn't auctioned off in a huge bid, and Iafallo continues having a good year when he returns.

I don't really see Los Angeles and Montreal as good trade partners. LA's primary need is at LhD, and I don't see the Habs releasing Kaiden Guhle or Jordan Harris (who signed with them as a free-agent-to-be) in exchange for anything reasonable. For example, we could dangle Sean Durzi and our 2024 first for Guhle and I think Montreal would still decline.

Yeah, idk. I just saw that in the rumor mill that MTL might be interested in Walker or another RHD from LA.

Yeah, Montreal definitely need quality at RhD. Walker is a short-term solution, whereas Sean Durzi or Jordan Spence is a long-term answer (Brandt Clarke is out of the question). Montreal needs a young right defender as much as Los Angeles needs a young left defender, so on the surface the teams would seem to be a good fit. But they're not.

Yeah, MTL could use young D but Walker or other vets could be used as mentors for their young LHD. So, there could be a fit there.

The other option is Matt Roy (as much as LA fans are opposed to it) but I don't think it would be MTL trading for him due to the type of return that they probably would be looking for. Perhaps they both get traded, but I don't see Roy getting traded now unless they are getting a solid LD out of it (maybe Chychrun if he plays good for a stretch, once he's healthy).
