Kings have so many Dman and I believe they plan to extend Gavrikov in the summer. In Toronto and with the lack of LD prospects Johnsson would have a pretty good shot especially with Gio being done in 2025

Kings have lots of right handed Dmen, not so much on the left side. There will always be a spot for a NHL capable players on a ELC. Agree with the can be s spot for the Leafs, but. wonder, the Leafs current management haven't been reluctant to to promote their own Marlies, they seem to want sign aging UFAs. Look at the Leafs, besides the first rounders, Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Liljegren and Reilly not one drafted player on the NHL squad.

Any player that can the be NHL capable on a ELVC should be able to find his spot on any team. Kings have lots of RHD, not so much on the left side.
I wonder how the Leafs are perceived by young player.
Leafs just have five drafted players on their team....Reilly, Nylander, Matthews Marner, Liljegren. Leafs have done a poor job of promoting from the Marlies, they seem to love to sign aging UFAs to fill their NHL roster

A. Johnson, Brown, Levio, Engvall, Timashov, Dermott all werent first rounders but played for us. However due to cap reasons or position reasons they had to move on. But if the cap went up as expected most if not all these guys maybe minus Dermott and Timashov would probs still be leafs. Heck Robertson 2nd rounder was playing till the injury and with time Knies another 2nd rounder is coming with the potential for Niemela in 2023-2024.

In general its not reluctance its that the prospects havent shown they can surpass anyone on the team yet. 2023-2024 there will be some graduates as we will have spots and some guys have turned heads. And a guy like Johnsson would have a better opportunity here than with the Kings as when u look at the Kings they got Bjornfot whose a LD prospect whose probs getting 3rd pair mins next year, Gavrikov whose probs gonna get extended since they paid a 1st for him, Anderson who they just extended, and other guys on their reserve list.

Meanwhile in Toronto by the time he could push for an NHL job it will be Rielly, McCabe (1 year left) and a wide open 3rd pair spot. Johnsson just has to earn it but from what I have heard about him seems like a good 3rd pair candidate in 2 years with potential to do more down the road

Been reading about him. If Dubas wants another Center this guy could be interesting

Played in the SHL and while 4 goals and 3 assists doesnt look impressive this was a 17 year old at the time playing against men

But rn the 2 guys (If we keep the Boston pick) to watch in my eyes

1. Oscar Fisker Mølgaard
2. Theo Lindstein

I'm staying on the Gavin Brindley wagon. He's got all the makings of a really great forechecking winger and will probably fall due to his size. He and Jayden Perron scream Leafs picks

One issue with Brindley hes ranked higher than what the Boston picks probs gonna be. And I would have agreed with the small, skilled, wing stuff but in these last 2 drafts Dubas seems to be moving away from that as look at the last 2 top picks from the Leafs

Matthew Knies 6'3 210 pounds
Fraser Minten 6'2 192 pounds

Like if we were looking at the old Dubas 5'9 Hutson would have probs happened. Thats why I feel were gonna see someone out of the norm again but someone who looks good and who could project to contribute in the lineup. Expecting 6'4 Dmitri Simashev could very well happen

What about 5'9 150 lbs Ty Voit or 5'10 170 lbs Nick Moldenhauer

But those are later picks picked after said guys I mentioned

Dubas will never fully move away from small and skill but instead of prioritizing it he seems to use his first pick on need and then with any remaining pick he goes and finds guys he likes who sometimes are small and skilled

I feel were gonna see him draft another surprise early then with his 5th and 6th round picks go get one or two small/skilled forwards or Dman. But I will say one not surprise for us were gonna hear he traded down

There was a shift in his last game where it looked like he tweaked something. Hopefully its nothing bad. Probs out as a precaution

Voit with 1 goal, 1 assist on the night. Brings him to 103 points in 66 games. That puts him 7 back for the lead in OHL scoring

I think Veeti Miettinen may be our most underrated prospect. The 2020 draft class is the one that keeps on giving for us. I've followed VM pretty closely since we drafted him because his playstyle is so intriguing. His has such a fantastic shot and has produced well in the NCAA. Calle Jarnkrok Jr. maybe?

The tools are tempting but the offence at even strength from Miettinen hasn’t been there at St. Cloud to suggest he can be anything more than a power-play threat at the next level.

He has a NHL shot but not quite sure that will carry him to a contract with TOR. With Abruzzese, Ellis, Hirvonen, Tverberg, Ovchinnikov, already with the Marlies I don’t believe we will see Miettinen sign this year.

But I’m with you, he is an intriguing prospect considering we don’t have that many pure goal scorers
