Description
Gostisbehere didn't fit his round peg into Philly's square hole but has proven to be a great puck moving LD in Zona when allowed to play to his strengths. What's he worth @ 2.25M to a contender?

Ghost at 2.25 has some value but given that he doesn;t play defense, I dont think he gets anything close to those returns. If Reilly from TOR or Doughty from LA get injured near TDl and those teams need a puck rushing/pp dman, maybe a 1st and a bit more?

By what metric[s] does he not play D because his relCF% every year on otherwise bad teams says otherwise?

None of that.

Then those teams will prolly enjoy their first round exits to teams that can possess and move the puck for 60

Gostisbehere is not a difference maker on a playoff team. i would rather go after Klingberg over him.

All 3 teams easily pass, no way does Gostisbehere have that kind of value.

Take a closer look at his 5v5 stats.

https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/g/gostish01.html

About halfway down the page. Corsi per 60 is -23.1 Fenwick (similar stat) -18.2. He's a good PP quarterback, but his possession quality is pretty bad 5v5 expected goals for vs 5v5 expected goals against was a -20.4 last year. People can say...ah but's it's AZ. That's a double edge sword too. Hard to brag about relative corsi when your "relative" is the other Yotes. These are just the stats too. The eye test is also bad.

Way overvalued here. Think Chiarot type deal and that’s if he continues to put up the offensive numbers.

-23.1 CF/60 this year with a tiny sample size and on ASU... on Philly it's actually positive and on ASU he's started more in DZ than OZ.

expected shooing F/A % doesn't mean as much for Dmen as Corsi/Fenwick [he blocks shots] because they typically start/drive the possession, forwards "finish."

I think ASU should resign him if they can't receive a 1st for him at 2.25M... a 4x4 for his skill set is fair.

Puck Moving QBs certainly have their place in the NHL, but the Barrie's / Ghosts / Shats of the world are falling by the wayside because they're not 2-way players. If you know Ghost isn't a 2-way playing going into it...that's fine. Keep his minutes down in 5v5 situations and play him for the full 2min PP...it can work. I wouldn't give more than $3M a year though. AZ does indeed need NHLers. I'd be in full support of them extending him. I just don't think there's a snowballs chance in Heck that AZ gets a 1st rounder for him. PHI sent picks to AZ just to take on his cap hit. That's how bad defensively he is. Cap Dump territory.

Certainly no team is going up that much in the trades proposed.

Walker and the better of our two thirds feels about right to me. He's a rental with a significant cap hit turning 30 at the end of the season, so it's unlikely that we'll be interested in re-signing him.

I'd say at least a 1st at the deadline the extra depending on how desperate teams are at the deadline
