Description
Since the blueline is going to relied upon heavily for another run, its best to shore it up early rather than pray the young guys get it together and can play finals caliber defense (they can't) . I think they'll lean on playing even more defensive then they have the last 3 years because offensively, this team is severely lacking depth and its evident. They need to make a move up front for sure, but these are just my thoughts on the blueline. Lemme know what you think as far as value goes. The Myers move is kinda a no loss situation since he likely is your 6th man at best and the gain could be more cap space. Foote trade is just a thought i had, im well aware he could garner a "better" return in terms of value.

Chicago in tank mode but doesnt have defensive depth especially right handers. Yeah maybe give some of the younger guys a go, but for a guy who has more NHL experience he could be chicagos 6/7th for this season. Cap doesnt matter to them this season and his deal gets cheaper next year if they want to keep him. Is this fair? Would chicago take him for free? Id throw in a 7th from 23 or a 6th from the future to get him off the team. I wouldnt mind getting no return for him, Id prefer to just clear cap.
    CHI
    1. Myers, Philippe
    Additional Details:
From what ive seen from Myers prior to this season, I thought he has some potential. Now I've lost hope and that cap hit is killer for this season given how hes a liability on the ice. I understand he will be cheaper next season, but seeing as how Perbix has shown his promise for a regular job, I would move Myers to save cap this season since i dont see it really being a loss nor a win. As of right now he doesnt have much upside, there are far more reliable bottom 4 stay at home guys for cheaper available around the league which i will get to.
    2.
    TBL
    1. Brown, Joshua
    2. 2024 4th round pick (ARI)
    ARI
    1. Foote, Cal
    Additional Details:
Im not sure about value on this. Personally I would move Foote. I think he has value on the market and could garner a good return. I think its best to sell high on him. Tampa could definitely get a better piece/package for him, but.
I think getting a guy like Josh Brown is more beneficial to the team. He plays simple. Hes big and physical. Very defensive minded, and he already knows the type of game he plays vs Foote who is still finding his "footing lmao" in the NHL in regards to how he should be playing.
Bogo gets banged up often sure, but once he comes back he'll be second pair with Sergachev and that leaves Perbix on the 3rd pair with Cole. Brown is a great option because of his contract, and his game. Once Bogo is back, him and Perbix are likely the 6th and 7th men, unless Fluery plays his way into the job he's likely our 8th man.

The only reason I think a pick might need to be attached is because the player could probably be had off waivers, or at least someone similar but cheaper. I realize the cap doesn't matter to the hawks but they also have no reason to take it on for free.

Yeah Coach Zettler saying when asked about Myers "we got a lot of work to do " backs up your assessment of Myers.

Hawks aren't just gonna do you a favor. It'd cost a 4th-5th to dump any cap. Hawks management is trying to lose this season. You said they don't care about cap well they also don't care how bad their defensive depth is.

I dont understand why TB didnt just buy out Myers. Wouldve cleared his cap hit plus given them like 600k in extra cap space this year because of his negative cap hit buyout

There would have been a a hit next year with the extensions kicking in that which outweighed the 600k this year. They felt they could coach him up. He's got all the tools.
