Canes will have $5.5m of cap space (including LTIR salary pool) for trades now. This would be even with Patches back

But I thought young top 4RHD were extremely valuable, and Bear was being scratched for trade protection

"Quoting: Caniac2000
He's being trade protected, why would you play a guy that wants out when you are carrying 7 other D men and can protect him? It makes no sense unless you get plagued by injuries. Come to terms with that, it's a fact. It's asset management.

Nah, I think after an injury like that and long term covid, you let him rest and don't expose him to reinjuring that ankle and lowering his trade value even more.

Interesting, you should look at the game logs from the start of last year when he played with Slavin"

"K let me know when you get assets for your prized possession that is so special we must not play him. I'll be waiting.

Cheers."

My bad @caniac2000 I'm ready to admit I was wrong. Bear did have value as long as there was some salary retention and an AHL/NHL tweener attached to him.

Wait really? Don't really know how all the LTIR relief stuff works for when someone comes off of it.

There is a reason Patches wasn’t on LTIR on the start of the season. Canes have an upper limit of close to $86m

yes but it is a fallacy since Patches will need 7 million of it.

taking anything he says as even close to accurate is the first issue.

So it turns out to be a salary dump for the Canes. Can't complain. I never liked taking back Pederson in the Burns trade. Didn't think they would be able to get rid of him. Nice to move him out in the same play. This frees up some cap. All good.

Odd take being upset about having an additional AHL body that has been relatively effective at that level and is on a two way deal but to each their own I guess.

Lane Pederson is now on a one-way deal. Canes just managed to waive him and bury it in the AHL. Not sure how 'relatively effective' at that level means anything when you're crap at the next level, but yes each to his own. Playoff team. Non playoff team. We're all a little different I guess.

Ahhh you're right he is on a one-way now. That makes more sense why he was involved in the deal. I'm sure Waddell didn't love paying him 750k to play in the AHL. Canucks taking that contract was probably the concession for retaining on Bears salary.
