I thought Comrie was one of the better, maybe the best UFA signings in the summer. I was dismayed that Leafs acquired Murray for 4.7m and Comrie was signed for 1.8m.

The rights would have been nice but ultimately it's better for his career to get this opportunity. Is he better than rittich? Yes but we have some good goalies in our system with Holm and salminen as well as DiVincentiis in junior as well as guys into the future it does suck that we could have a better backup goalie but ultimately the jets wanted to do comrie right and allow him to make a decision on if he wanted to stay or get a better opportunity elsewhere if anything we should be happy to see the success he's had so far as a goalie and a person. In the grand scheme of it all rittich could be a different guy but it's what we got so instead of focusing on what could've been let's focus on where we are and into the future
