Trade Nylander

Description
Nothing seems to change this team. Different GM? Nothing. Different coach? Nothing. Different players around the young core (Matthews marner and Nylander, maybe even Rielly) nothing. Trade the guy that embodies the leafs. Trying when they want to and having so much more potential; Nylander. That will 100% shake up this team. Trading holl is good, but not that answer to this team’s psychological problems. They feel so entitled, like they have nothing to prove anymore. That couldn’t be further from the truth. This team has everything to prove. It’s time for a DeRozan like trade. Do I know what for? How it’ll get done? Not a clue. I’m not the gm though am I?

I said it during the summer, they need a guy that gives a ****. At the time I thought Miller was the best target, in a swap with Nylander he still very well could be

Nylander 50% of his points are on the PP and he's a -3 even strength. Tavares 70% of his points are on the PP and he's a -4 at even strength. So again, it proves they don't get the job done at even strength on the same line.

They don't need to trade any of Matthews, Marner, or Nylander. They are always willing and trying to improve, but you are right that there is something wrong with their mental.

The goal should be to correct it. I noticed that the Leafs tend to play a more physical when Simmonds 1st rejoins the roster. Whenever they are down and someone is buzzing/scores a goal they get re-energized. They also tend to "play down" to their opponents, which suggests they are either underestimating them and/or matching the other teams energy. So they play off each other's energy but also the other teams.

So to me it seems like they need add a guy who can re-energize the team but not by fighting, or physically play, but a guy who will try to score those important goals, and bringing intensity to the line up in that way.

A physical guy that can produce seems like the obvious choice but none of those guys are available. So instead I think they should get Jonathan Toews, a guy who leads by example and who is also clutch.

The Leafs have a goal differential of 0, so both top lines aren't getting it done. I think Kampf leads the team with 3 EVG, then the rest are guys with 2, 1 and 0 goals.

Tavares and Nylander are playing good together though but just on the PP where Tavares has all his goals. So, the shouldn’t disrupt the one thing that is going well for them offensively.

The Nylander Tavares last year on EV had a differential of 0 at one point of the season (not sure how they ended) which isn't good. Right now they look worse off, but until the entire teams scoring normalizes, can't really evaluate that line yet. They may need to make line changes or a trade to normalize the scoring down the road but I don't think they should be moving out their core pieces.
