They need Toews too. Upgrade the 2nd to a 1st.

I know Kane gets a lot of points, but I rather have Kakko on my team. And that is based on them somehow making the same. So for me this is a no thank you.

Depends if the Rangers are going to really compete or not this year...so far Kakko is less then impressive.

The only team that I feel that the acquisition of Kane would put them over the top at this time, is the Oilers. The team runs on star power, and I think they would have a really good chance of winning the cup if goaltending isn't costing them.

Actually, there's Boston too and maybe Vegas.

I actually think there is a good chance he lands in Boston, Vegas or Pit as well...Vegas obviously will have issues with juggling cap

Depends where the Rangers are at come the TDL. As speculated by some journalists, Kakko has been a letdown so far. While he started coming on the end of last season a bit, he was also a healthy scratch in the playoffs and this season hasn't looked great. If Rangers are going for a cup, there is zero question Kane is more valuable in the pursuit of a cup this season then Kakko. So, boils down to what the Rangers feel about Kakko's progression (or lack of) and where the Rangers sit against the competition close to the TDL. If Shes doesn't find his magic again, then all bets are off.

idk what journalists you've been following, but Kakko has been anything but a letdown this year. Whenever he is on the ice he looks like the best player, and he is dominant defensively and with puck possession. He is playing with Kreider who is ice cold, and he is still putting up points. He is also only 21 years old

"still putting up points"....he has 3 points in 10 games LOL

I agree he looks good defensively and strong on the puck, but he's not putting up points...certainly not at the level one would expect as a former #2 OA 3 years ago.

His 5v5 points/60 is triple Auston Matthews'
are we going off of a 10 game sample size to conclude Kakko is not putting up points?

Austin Matthews is not looking himself and it's widely discussed; low bar set as such. Let's put is another way, Max Domi is not only defensively good and strong on the puck, but he's putting up 7 points in 9 games and nobody would consider him to be anywhere near as good as Matthews but domi is beast compared to KK.

We can use last year too looking at Kakko, 18 points in 43 games or even his career, 67 points in 167 games. Kakko hasn't figured out how to put up points relative to the expectations everyone had of him at the time of draft....that's not a secret and this year is showing no different then his historical production (or lack of) offensively. Saying he is putting up points is just an inaccurate assessment of him.

If the Rangers are in the thick of it as the TDL approaches, they'd be fools not to take that deal ... they could even (maybe) resign Kane, he might like playing in New York.
